A business man in the state, Mr. Iniobong Akpakpan has advised the new administration in the state to put in more effort in the areas of industrialization so as to create employment opportunities to the many unemployed Akwa Ibomites.
Mr. Akpakpan who spoke with our reporter at Abak recently, congratulated Mr. Udom Emmanuel and Mr. Moses Ekpo on their landslide victory at the April 11, 2015 gubernatorial election and subsequent inauguration into office as the Executive Governor and Deputy respectively.
He expressed the hope that as seasoned technocrat and administrator, Mr. Udom Emmanuel and Mr. Moses Ekpo will take the state to the next level of development.
On the emergence of Mr. Moses Ekpo as Deputy Governor, the first in the history of Abak Local Government Area, Mr. Akpakpan described it as meritorious and well deserved based on his antecedents and excellent track record. “Mr. Moses Ekpo deserves the position given to him based on his antecedents. I believe he will be able to perform exceedingly well”, he stated.
The chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) however called on the new administration in the state to be focused. “The new administration should develop existing infrastructures and construct roads that were not touched during the last administration. They should equally focus on rural development so that the rural dwellers will also enjoy the dividends of democracy”, Mr. Akpakpan advised.
He used the occasion to congratulate Chief Godswill Akpabio on the successful completion of his 8-year tenure as the Governor of the state. “Chief Godswill Akpabio performed creditably well. For eight years, he was able to turn Akwa Ibom to a destination state. What he has done, no government has ever done it. That is why we have to celebrate him. I’m glad he is at the Senate and will bring his experience to bear for the benefit of the people of his senatorial district in particular and the state in general”, he explained.
He also congratulated Elder Friday Iwok on his inauguration into the 6th Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly as the Member representing Abak State Constituency. “I am happy that Elder Friday Iwok is there in the House of Assembly for a second term. As an experienced Assemblyman, I believe he will perform creditably well in lawmaking for the state. I’m very happy that he is there for a second term, but he has a lot to do for his constituents so that at the end of his tenure, his people would celebrate him”, said the Elder of PDP, Abak Urban Ward 2.
