Akwa Ibom State government plans to train 1,000 youths from the state in Oracle Database Software Management to imbue with relevant skills to become self-reliant.
The State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel who made this known Sunday at Qua Iboe Church, 2 Abak Road, Uyo, noted, “I am in discussion with Oracle to train at least 1,000 youths in Akwa Ibom State on Oracle Database Software Management System.”
Emmanuel who noted that most of those employed by banks and companies are those with Oracle certifications, reasoned that Akwa Ibom youths must be imbued with relevant skills that would make them self-reliant, pointing out “I want to make sure that our youths acquire skills so that they can mostly be on their own. We want to facilitate this to help some of our youths to also acquire skills. One thousand is a good number and we can see how we can train them in Uyo to reduce the cost instead of moving them to Lagos,” he said.
Emmanuel in the spirit of Fathers’ Day celebration admonished fathers to bring-up their children in the ways of God, adding that whatsoever become of the society was traceable to the role of fathers, noting “As the father of the State, whatsoever becomes of the State has a lot to do with the father. How you bring your children and how you actually tutored your children in the ways of God will actually impact on the society that we are living. That is why today my message to fathers is let us go back to the old-time religion; I think it really helped us. We should go back to that old-time religion it was helpful.”
He said he owed his life to the moral and spiritual upbringing accorded him by his parents, saying “I think the scripture has done a whole lot of work in me, thanks to my parents. The scripture has really tamed me to very level-headed that I now see things only from God’s perspective and not men.”
Earlier in his homily, Elder (Prof.) Trenchard Ibia who had preached on the theme, ‘Sustaining your Trust in God’ drawn from Psalm 61, enjoined Christians to put honest cry to God like David in the Bible did, observing that nothing should separate man from the love of God.
