Buhari’s administration will be disciplined, transparent — Stakeholders

Stakeholders in Eket Local Government in Akwa Ibom, have expressed confidence that President Mohammadu Buhari’s administration would be disciplined, transparent and incorruptible.

The stakeholders made their views known in separate interviews with newsmen, in Eket on Saturday.

According to them, Buhari’s government will address the issues of indiscipline, transparency and accountability.

Chief Nduese Essien, the former Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development described Buhari’s inaugural speech as “a straight forward speech’’ which addressed the issues of corruption, security and employment.
According to him, Buhari made it clear that his administration will run a disciplined, transparent, accountable administration.
Essien said that what was required from Nigerians at this time was to reposition it from the disciplined approach which the out gone administration did not carry out.

“The out gone administration allowed corruption to be elevated to a point where it eventually became a normal thing.’’
Essien said that Buhari’s government would address the issue of corruption, security and employment.

According to him, Buhari’s administration’s intention to address the issues of corruption, insecurity, unemployment is a welcome development.
Essien advised the present administration not to be vindictive or selective in his governance but should treat all sectors of the economy and people in the country as the same people

“It is a good experience for Nigeria to move from one elected government to another, particularly one political party is handing over to another party, this we haven’t experienced before.

“We are looking forward to a smooth transition and a smooth administration that would not cause unnecessary disorder to the system,’’ he said.
The Vice Chairman of Eket Local Government, Mr Victor Henry, expressed optimism that the present administration would reduce corruption to its barest minimum.
He said that Buhari would run a transparent and corruption free administration.

“Corruption has been a problem in Nigeria, Buhari has a heart to stop it, if he stops corruption, I think it will be fine with Nigerians.
“I belong to everybody and I belong to nobody means that If you are caught in any crime, you will face the wrath of the law,’’ he said.

Henry applauded Buhari’s inaugural speech and described it as “precise’’.  He said that the speech showed that Buhari was a seasoned administrator ready to work for the development of the country.

He called on Nigerians to work with the present administration to fight the cankerworm called “corruption” that had eaten deep into Nigerian system.
“I see Buhari as a president that will take Nigeria to the next level,’’ he said.
