Polls: We will vote PDP with anger, Ibeno people vow * as Usoro Akpanusoh rounds up tour

The people of Ibeno  Local Government  Area have assured the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that they will deliver the party successfully on Saturday, April 11, 2015 during the Governorship/House of Assembly elections. 

They also say their votes are sealed and will be delivered to the Akwa Ibom State PDP governorship candidate, Mr. Udom Emmanuel and the House of Assembly candidate for the party for Esit Eket/Ibeno State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Usoro Akpanusoh. 

Ibeno people gave the assurance yesterday during wards tour of Rt. Hon. Usoro Akpanusoh in the area.


The tour which was well-attended by state, chapter as well as ward officers of PDP, stakeholders, women, elders, youths, past and present political office holders of the area, took place at different locations in each ward.

Addressing the people, Rt. Hon. Usoro Akpanusoh said he decided to embark on ward to ward campaign in preparation ahead of Saturday’s election as well as solicit for votes for Akwa Ibom State PDP governorship standard bearer Mr. Udom Emmanuel as next governor and himself as the next House of Assembly member.

Usoro Akpanusoh, while thanking Ibeno people for their support during the party’s nomination, said the campaign was necessary in order to meet with grass root people one on one as well as know their problems so that when elected, he will try to solve them which would be part of his community developmental projects, maintained that as a former councilor, he knows the responsibilities of a legislator. 

According to him “we are embarking on this wards tour in order to solicit for votes because we know the important of the electorates at the polls. The coming election is very different from the previous elections we have had in the state. So we decided to go down to the unit and ward levels in Ibeno Local Government Area to educate the people on the need to go out and vote PDP on April 11. The tour has afforded me the opportunity to know what the problems of the people are.” He said.  

 Akpanusoh however said “I will empower the women, youths, give scholarships and I will be coming back to brief my constituent on the progress. I will work with the incoming government of Akwa Ibom State to make sure that dividends of democracy are felt in my Constituency. My representation at the State Assembly will be very effective and all above be of benefit to my people.”  

The Esit Eket born politician further stated that if he wins as the next House of Assembly member, he will attract developmental projects to his constituency, empower the youths and give scholarship to the people. “By the special grace of God I will win and God will use me to re-write the story of the Esit Eket/ Ibeno State Constituency.” 

The PDP candidate promised to establish cordial relationship between State government and his people which according to him will bring developments to the constituency. He furthered assured the people that some of their requests will always be captured in the State budget. He promised to run a free transport programme for his people as well as empower the people through micro finance programmes.

Speaking, the Executive Chairman of Ibeno, Hon. Henry Nko said the entire Ibeno people will work and ensure PDP wins at the polls come Saturday, adding that PDP will win all the way in the area having benefited a lot from the party. Hon. Nko stressed the need for the people of Ibeno to vote Mr. Udom Emmanuel as the next governor and Usoro Akpanusoh as their next representative at the State House of Assembly, adding that Usoro Akpanusoh who is an experienced politician who will give Esit Eket/Ibeno State Constituency the needed effective representation expected and that Udom Emmanuel will continue with the uncommon transformation in Akwa Ibom State. 

Also speaking, the state party officer representing Ibeno in the State PDP exco, Hon. Friday Okpo called on the people of the area to be sincere and steadfast in their support, stressing that God has changed the calendar of representation in the constituency through the emergence of Usoro Akpoanusoh. The state party officer assured that Ibeno people will not regret supporting and appealed to the people to take the interest of the area as paramount.

The Chapter Chairman of PDP in Ibeno LGA, Hon. Samuel Ekpenyong said the ward to ward campaign was a confirmation of the party’s wide acceptance and extreme confidence in Usoro Akpanusoh. Ekpenyong maintained that Ibeno LGA having taken its turn in the person of Okpolupm Ette, the people were happy in the emergence of an Esit Eket son, Usoro Akpanusoh.  He called on the people to vote PDP on Saturday.

Ward chairmen of the party in their different speeches said the people of the area were poised to vote for PDP at the polls come Saturday, cautioning that there won’t be any compromise in achieving total victory for the party. They called on the people to vote massively for PDP. 

On her part, a PDP women leader, Mrs. Veronica Ekerebok charged the women to queue behind Udom Emmanuel and Usoro Akpansuoh, while Hon. Peter Ubereka who spoke on behalf of the elders said the people of the area will vote for PDP massively at the polls.

Meanwhile, Usoro Akpanusoh has rounded off his ward to ward tour in Esit Eket and Ibeno Local Government Areas. Throughout the tour, Akpanusoh was welcomed by his constituent with high spirit as well as excitements at each of the ward. They people according to their responds maintained that from all indications, realities on ground proves that it is Udom Emmanuel who will take over the mantel of governance in the state, while they also expressed optimism that Usoro Akpanusoh will succeed Okpolupm Ette in the State House of Assembly. The Esit Eket and Ibeno people have however assured that PDP in the two areas remains a formidable platform that would enhance good representation and provide democratic dividends for them with Usoro Akpanusoh as their lawmaker.
