Oron PDP is intact, united, resolute - Chapter Chairman

Oron PDP is intact, united, resolute - Chapter Chairman
Despite the proclaimed  success of the APC  presidential candidate, Rtd General Muhammed Buhari in the March 28 presidential elections, the ranks and file of Oron local government area Peoples Democratic Party is still as united and solid as it has always been.

This is the position and situation assessment of the Chapter Chairman of PDP in Oron, Elder Efiong Efiong Bassey who was briefing journalists in Oron last weekend against the back drop of alleged defection of some top notches of the party to APC following the outcome of the March 28 presidential polls results.

Elder Efiong who asserted that he had fast held a caucus meeting of elders, women and youth groups of the Peoples Democratic Party in Oron maintained that all the party leaders in the local government area are in top spirit, undaunted and committed as ever to deliver the party convincingly come April 11.

The Chapter Chairman who was full of praises and facilitations to his constituents for voting massively for Rt. Hon. Chief Nelson Efiong as the Senator-elect for the Eket Senatorial District, Elder Nse Ekpenyong for Oron Federal constituency also promised both Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, the PDP gubernatorial candidate and the candidate form Oron/Udung Uko State House of Assembly seat, Hon. Efiong Okon Bassey (fondly and popularly referred to as Attih) must all be overwhelmingly voted for by the PDP Stakeholders, members, supporters and admirers across Oron local government areas.

While urging the PDP faithful in Oron to put the nightmarish experiences of the aftermath of the presidential polls behind them and continue in their winning streak political posture, the chapter Chairman reminded them of the usual avowed stance of their late mentor and political leader, late Pastor Oyong Etim Asukwo whose tutelage imbued them with the zeal and charisma never to tolerate political prostitution but rather fight on faithfully and with all amount of loyalty to the PDP.

Elder Efiong Bassey also expressed optimism that the “good fight and excellent race spirit” put into action by Governor Godswill Akpabio in resolving Akwa Ibom State and place squarely in the person of Deacon Udom Emmanuel can never be in vain nor be washed away.

The Oron PDP boss sited an example of Lagos, Oyo, Kano, Anambra, Plateau and Benue States whose different political cleavage at different times differs with the ruling party at the federal level but succeeded albeit effortlessly in attracting federal government present and patronage as well as their rightful shares of the national cake, irrespective of being labelled as opposition parties.

Elder Efiong Efiong Bassey argued that it would be harmful to all if APC take over Akwa Ibom State, an unimaginable situation he noted could endanger the infrastructure laid by Chief Godswill Akpabio and hopefully believed that such projects enacted capacity could be distorted by APC administration which may likely squander the Akwa Ibom State resources to placate other financially unstable states of the APC.

“This condemnable and unforeseeable setback should be avoided in its entirety through massive support by the electorate in Akwa Ibom State in general and Oron nation in particular”, Elder Efiong appealed even as he commended president Goodluck Jonathan for his statesmanlike disposition towards the outcome of the presidential polls and the Minister, Dr Mrs Akon Eyakenyi for remaining a source of inspiration to Oron PDP chapter.
