Youth activist seeks redeployment of A’Ibom REC

A youth activist and president of Akwa Ibom Mandate Union (AKMU), Comrade Tom FredFish has called on the INEC Chairman Prof Attairu Jega to redeploy the Resident Electoral Officer in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Austin Okojie immediately from the State.

He made this statement on Wednesday while speaking to newsmen in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
FredFish stated that the manner at which INEC officials led by the Resident Electoral Officer Mr. Austin Okojie connived with some PDP Chieftains in Akwa Ibom State to rig the Presidential election, one will no doubt conclude that the same scenario will play out in the governorship election on April 11.
“We must set out to correct the anomalies perpetuated by government institutions on March 28 during the presidential election where INEC Officials and the police took sides in favour of the PDP which resulted to massive rigging of the presidential election in the state”.

“I want to call on the INEC Chairman to immediately redeploy Austine Okojie if he hopes to conduct a credible election in the state. Akwa Ibom people have lost faith in the State Rec and as such cannot trust Mr. Okojie to supretend over the governorship election”.

“If Mr. Okojie is not immediately redeployed from Akwa Ibom State but allowed to conduct the election in Akwa Ibom State, the governorship candidate of the APC Umana Umana should forget about winning the election because any result that emanated from by Mr Okojie’s election will definitely be a sham that will reflect Umana and his wife voting against himself and their party, the APC”, he said.

He further called on the Inspector General of Police to call the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police to call his men to order, bemoaning them to be professional in their duties which they swore to uphold.
