Guber 2015: Esuene receives endorsement from A’Ibom women
Akwa Ibom  women, mostly  market women on Tuesday in Uyo adopted Senator Helen Esuene of the Labour Party (LP) as their sole candidate in the forth-coming April 11, gubernatorial election in the State.

The women numbering over 2000 received Senator Esuene at Urua Akpanandem market Uyo, when she visited the market in continuation of her state wide voters education exercise.

Madam Atim Okon, speaking on behalf of the elated woman said Senator Helen Esuene is God-sent to Akwa Ibom people, most especially women, adding that they had long began mobilizing women all over the State to vote for her come Saturday April 11, 2015.

“We cannot allow this once in a life time opportunity slip-off our hands, we must vote for you because of your pedigree, experience in governance, magnanimity, achievement both in public and private life and above all your care for widows and the less privileged across the State”, Madam Okon said.
She commended the distinguished Senator for venturing into a world that has for long been dominated by men and assured her of victory in the guber poll.

“We wish to assure you that with our numerical strength, we will vote en-mass on Saturday for your victory and Akwa Ibom State will go into record as the first State in Nigeria to produce an elected woman governor”, Mrs. Okon said.

Speaking earlier, Senator Helen Esuene while educating them on how to vote properly, said she entered the race because of the urgent need to liberate the State from the claws of poverty.
“We do not have to be poor because Akwa Ibom State is the richest State in the country”.

“My government will articulate programmes aimed at eradicating poverty among our people, women will have enough money to go into medium scale businesses and our youths will be gainfully employed because we will create employment opportunities”, she said, adding that her administration will be people oriented.

The governorship hopeful assured the women that within her first one year in office, decent markets and artistic clusters will be built across the State, stressing that her government will devout resources in grassroot and human development among others such as effective health care delivery, qualitative education and massive industrialization.
