Esit Eket/Ibeno State Constituency: Usoro Akpanusoh set for victory

The people of Esit Eket Local Government Area have agreed unanimously to vote for the standard bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Esit Eket/Ibeno State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Usoro Akpanusoh at the poll during the Saturday, April 11 general election.

The people made their position known last week during a ward to ward campaign of Usoro Akpanusoh to Ekpene Obo, ward 1 and Uqua, ward 5.
The campaign which attracted PDP Chapter and wards officers, stakeholders, political leaders, traditional rulers, women, elders of the two wards, youths, members of Kini-Abasi 2015 campaign organization, past and present political office holders of the area, took place at Ekpene Obo town hall (ward 1) and Uqua Isi-Edoho village square (ward 5).

Addressing the people at the different venues, Rt. Hon. Usoro Akpanusoh said the essence of the ward to ward tour was to meet with the grass-root people one on one and educate them on the need to go out and vote for PDP during the Saturday’s election. He stated that he decided to embark on the campaign in order to solicit for votes for the Akwa Ibom State PDP governorship standard bearer Mr. Udom Emmanuel as next governor and himself as the next House of Assembly member.

While charging the people not to allow anyone from the opposition party to deceive them from voting PDP, the lawmaker in waiting promised them effective and efficient representation if elected. He maintained that it was necessary for him to embark on the tour in order to fulfill all the traditions of election.

Usoro Akpanusoh, who also promised to protect the interest of the area if he becomes the next lawmaker, expressed confidence that he is the most qualified person to represent the constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.      

According to him “why we are doing this because we have to fulfill all the traditions of election as well as solicit for votes. So we decided to go down to the unit and ward levels to educate the people on the need for them to go out and vote PDP come April 11.”  

Speaking further, Akpanusoh said “I will empower the women, youths, give scholarships and I will be coming back to brief my people on the progress. I will work with the incoming government of Akwa Ibom State to make sure that dividends of democracy are felt in my Constituency. My representation at the State Assembly will be very effective and my constituents will be proud of me.”  He said if he wins as the next House of Assembly member, he will attract developmental projects to the constituency, empower the youths and give scholarship to the people. 

The Esit Eket/Ibeno State Constituency PDP candidate promised to establish a cordial relationship between State government and his people which according to him will bring developments to the constituency. He assured the people that as a vocal politician that he is, he will ensure that some of their requests would always be captured in the State budget. He promised to run a free transport programme for his people as well as empower the people through micro finance programmes. 

Speaking at Ekpene Obo town hall, the chapter chairman of PDP in Esit Eket LGA who was represented by the chapter secretary, Hon. Udo Friday said the party will work and ensure Usoro Akpanusoh wins at the polls, adding that PDP will win in the area having benefited a lot from the party. Hon. Friday, who accompanied Usoro Akpanusuoh to the two venues, stressed the need for the people to deliver the PDP standard bearer for Esit Eket/Ibeno State Constituency even as he is said Akpanusoh will give the two Local Government Areas quality and effective representation. 

Also speaking, the SA to Governor Godswill Akpabio on Projects Monitory, Pastor Isaiah Abia appealed to the people to deliver PDP at the polls. He noted that the emergence of Udom Emmanuel, a son of Eket Senatorial District, is a convincing evidence that democracy has come to stay in Akwa Ibom State and that PDP has proven that it believes in equity and justice by zoning the governorship seat to Eket Senatorial District. He charged the people to reject opposition parties at the polls.

At the different venues, ward chairmen of the party during their speeches said the people of the wards were poised to vote for PDP during the governorship and House of Assembly election on Saturday, cautioning that there won’t be any compromise in achieving total victory for the party as Esit Eket remains a PDP LGA. They charged party faithfuls to stand firm with Usoro Akpanusoh as well as vote for the party at the polls overwhelmingly.

In his remarks, the former Council Chairman of Esit Eket LGA, Hon. Victor Bassey Isangedighi charged the people to reject opposition party at the polls even as he called on them to vote massively for PDP. The immediate pass council boss maintained that there will be the room for any opposition party during the Saturday’s election. He described Usoro Akpanusoh as a grass root politician and somebody that is well known, adding that he has every chance of winning the election. 

A PDP women leader, Princess Ini Adiakpan while speaking charged the women to vote Usoro Akpanusoh as well as Udom Emmanuel in order to actualize the mandate of the party to continue with the uncommon transformation programmes in the state.
