Udung Uko Political Leader spits fire ...Says PDP is unshaken in Oro

Smarting from the mind-boggling success of the  opposition party – APC – in the March 28 presidential polls, a frontline political juggernaut and founding member of the PDP in Akwa Ibom State, Rt. Hon. Chief Bassey Etim Edet has posited that the “mysterious” victory of the party can never hinder the total winning of the forthcoming gubernatorial and State house of Assembly election in Akwa Ibom State schedules for this Saturday April 11.

To this end, Chief Edet has passionately appealed to the good people of Udung Uko local government, Oro nation and indeed the entire Akwa Ibom to put their collective and unanimous decision to remain in PDP and ensure that a tested industrialist, accomplished banker and amiable politician like Mr Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, who possesses the magic wand to industrialise Akwa Ibom State, in overwhelmingly voted into the hilltop mansion.

Chief Bassey Etim Edet, a two-time Chairman of Oron and Udung Uko local governments, who is always regarded and revered as “a fierce and daring political fighter”, while urging all the political leaders in wards, local governments and constituencies to return to “the field immediately and mobilize PDP supporters” also stated that “party can defeat PDP” in Akwa Ibom State no matter the happenstance experienced in the presidential polls of March 28.

Chief Bassey Etim Edet who hinted that he has already put on his “political combat paraphernalia to ensure undiluted victory for Udom Emmanuel as well as Hon. Efiong Okon Bassey (Attih) the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly candidate for Oron/Udung Uko Constituency seat recalled that Udung Uko gave PDP over 90% of the votes cast in the last Presidential/National Assembly election, promising however that this feat must surely be replicated or surpassed come April 11, averting that Udung Uko has always been a PDP stronghold which cannot be discriminated by and self-centred group of desperate politicians.

Chief Edet who was addressing PDP elders, youth and women leaders in a special meeting he called to booster the morale of the unit and ward leaders in the constituency declared; “My people, Comrades, let me inform you that the Field Marshal of Akwa Ibom Political incline, Chief Godswill Akpabio has directed we the sub-commanders to go into the field and work to return the PDP governor in the person of Udom Emmanuel and all the State house of Assembly candidates to the Akwa Ibom State Legislature en masse on the platform of our great party – PDP, adding, “unless we all collectively and in unison accomplish the worthy task, posterity will not be fair sounding tough and resilience, Chief Bassey Etim Edet expressed delight that those he described as “seekers and perpetrators of stomach infrastructure politics in Udung Uko local government has taken the ignominious exit from PDP, and described the departure as “a good riddance to a bad rubbish”.

Chief Edet expressed surprise that those self-styled and acclaimed political leader who, after misleading and deceiving the State Governor to part with millions of naira for Oro people, as well as enjoy unmerited overseas pleasure trip courtesy of His Excellency, have now turned round to bite the hand that fed them, made them what they are today even on the platform of gullibility, greed, deceitfulness, selfishness and stomach politics”.

The explosive political leader of Udung Uko local government area declared: “Go and ask people like Okon Osung, Asukwo Anwana, Otu Ita Otoyo and Dr Bassey Antai, former Commissioner for Health, the road to their village in Ekim has been graded in the last 10 years or over, let alone being tarred. 

This is because they never fought for the masses, but garnered all available dividends of excellence governance of Gov. Godswill Akpabio into their stomachs, asking why such persons should not be grateful to Chief Akpabio, but now turn round to fight the Governor, a clear case of betrayal and exhibition of brazen ungratefulness to large-hearted mentor. (On the wild and erroneous rumours that the statutory federal monthly allocation would be depleted by the APC government at the centre, Chief Bassey dismissed it as radical ranting aimed at distracting PDP’s teeming supporters.)

Commenting on the allegation that APC has infiltrated Udung Uko and Oro nation in general menacingly, Chief Bassey Etim Edet, as erudite and blunt as ever retorted, “go and check the result of March 28 polls, those self-styled leaders of Udung Uko and Oro nation were beaten hands down in their own Ward 10 in Ekim village of Udung Uko local government”, PDP is quite prepared to replicate that marvellous political outing and will even improve upon and surpass that magnificent polling, adding that even Dr Bassey Antai, former Health Commissioner was defeated by PDP in his Edikor Ward 8.

Chief Edet urged the different units and ward leaders in Udung Uko/Oron State Constituency to rise up once more, hold the PDP firm, work for the success of the party and expect commensurate reward since according to him, the era of “monkey dey work, baboon dey chop” was over with the exit of the selfish and greedy chanced political leaders who reside only in Uyo to rip-off Udung Uko and Oro nation.

Personalities who also contributed solidarity messages for the success of the party in Udung Uko included Pastor Clement Nyong Okon, Hon Effiong Okon Bassey (Attih), candidate for Oron/Udung Uko State constituencies, Mrs Atim Edubio – pioneer PDP women leader in the area and the State Chairman in Akwa Ibom State and Media Consultant, Chief Emmanuel Esifa, among others.
