Students union leaders in Akwa Ibom State have reaffirmed their unflinching support to the gubernatorial Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Udom Emmanuel ahead of next Saturdays elections.
The Student leaders and representatives who were drawn from all the tertiary Institutions in the State converged on the popular Ibom Plaza after a carnival float around some major streets and pledged to massively mobilize to ensure victory for Mr. Udom Emmanuel as their next governor.
Leading the Students who came out in their thousands were the President of National Association of Akwa Ibom State Students, Comrade Mfon Umoh, the Student Union President of the University of Uyo, Comrade Ndianabasi Ekong, the Leader of Joint Campus Committee, Comrade Otobong Aquila, the President of the Student Union Government, Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic Ikot Osurua, among others.
In their separate goodwill messages, they assured the PDP that Akwa Ibom Students will vote the Party (PDP) all the way from the state House of Assembly to the governorship just as they did two weeks ago where they returned PDP in all the Senatorial as well as the Federal House of Representatives seats in the State.
The Students maintained that although they had earlier signed a communique to endorse Udom’s candidature, it was their desire to openly rally support for the incoming governor.
The SUG President of the University of Uyo, Comrade Ndianabasi Ekong noted “ last weeks we the Akwa Ibom students trooped out to the polls and voted massively for the PDP and we delivered the two polling booths in Uniuyo to the Party because we believe in the leadership of Chief (Dr) Godswill Obot Akpabio and we also strongly believe that Mr. Udom Emmanuel will fully take care of the needs of the Students. This Saturday we are going to make sure that PDP wins in all our respective local government areas of the state.”
A Political stalwart of Oro Nation and former member of G22, Engr. Larry Esin added his voice and advised the entire Students to go out and vote enmasse for the PDP, as it is the best deal for students and the entire populace.
Addressing the large mammoth crowd of Students, the PDP deputy governorship candidate, Mr. Moses Ekpo assured of a student inclusive government once Udom Emmanuel becomes the next governor of Akwa Ibom state.
He said that Udom was interested in creating wealth and opportunities for the teaming youths and urged them to get prepared to be engaged in the numerous industries that will spring up in the State.
Also addressing the Students, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga challenged them to take their future into their hands by electing Mr. Udom Emmanuel as the next Governor.
Others groups of Akwa Ibom people who also endorsed Udom Emmanuel were the Ibom Plaza Traders Association and Ibom Plaza Photographers.
Highpoint of the ceremony was an overwhelming voice vote in support of Mr Udom Emmanuel and other PDP Candidates in the State by the Students.
