ExxonMobil confirms 3 oil workers kidnap in QIT, Ibeno

Mobil Producing  Nigeria  (MPN), Operator of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation NNPC/MPN Joint Venture, have confirmed that three oil workers was kidnapped at Qua Iboe Terminal (QIT), in Ibeno Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom.

The Manger, Media and Communications of  ExxonMobil, Mr Ogechukwu Udeagha confirmed the incident in a statement to newsmen in Ibeno, Akwa Ibom on Saturday.
According to the statement, he said that unknown intruders abducted three national personnel of contractor Companies at the Yoho Floating Storage Operations vessel on Saturday March 21.

“On Saturday, March 21. 2015, unknown intruders boarded the Yoho Floating Storage Operations Vessel, and abducted 3 national personnel of contractor companies in QIT Ibeno,’’ the statement said.
The Statement however, did not the name the contracting company and the departments of the kidnapped oil workers.

“I cannot tell you anything else apart from what we have from the statement; any further enquiry should go to the contractor because we don’t have control over the contracting firm, they work for the contracting company,’’ the statement reads.

The statement said that contractor companies have informed MPN that the abducted individuals have been safely returned.

“There was no impact on production and loading schedules at any time,’’ the statement said.
