APC calls for transfer of Ikot Ekpene, Obot Akara EO ... Vow to resist rigging
The APC has called on  the Akwa Ibom State  Resident Electoral Commissioner to redeploy without further delay, the Ikot Ekpene and Obot Akara Electoral Officers  for aiding the PDP rig the Presidential and National Assembly election and vowed to resist any attempt to repeat it come April 11th, 2015 during the Governorship and State Assembly elections.

In a statement issued in uyo,the party said the Electoral Officers were responsible for the hiding of result sheets, physically thumb printing ballot papers at INEC offices in Ikot Ekpene and Obot Akara and deliberately holding back some ballot papers to ensure that PDP had the upper hand and undue advantage, warning that should such acts repeat itself come April 11th, 2015, the people of the area will not condone such undemocratic act.

The statement warned the Electoral Officers against hoarding of ballot papers to aid rigging, stating that the number of ballot papers for the April 11th Governorship and State House of Assembly poll must reflect the voting strength of the two local Government Areas. “Based on the number of registered voters as issued by INEC itself, Obot Akara has 41,107 voters Ikot Ekpene 67,795 and Essien Udim 87,703.

Any deliberate attempt to manipulate the process through the active connivance of the Electoral Officers, or their collaborators to reduce or shorten the number of ballot papers issued to the respective poling units in Ikot Ekpene and Obot Akara come April 11th will be met with great resistance and severe consequences”.

“We are therefore calling on the INEC REC to ensure that PDP’s  plot to remove the result sheets on or before Thursday, April 9th,2015 do not come to pass else the people of Obot Akara and Ikot Ekpene will take their destiny into their hands. We also call on NYSC ad-hoe staff to remain non-partisan all through the entire electoral process and there is the urgent need for the NYSC management to call their youth corps members to order”, the release stated.
