Tough talking Governor Godswill Akpabio in what many has since described as a face saving mission has called on the APC not to consider taking over Akwa Ibom state. The state chief Executive is said to have boasted the morale of PDP supporters in the state when he declared that the PDP will not surrender to the APC come what may.
It could be recalled that shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission has declared Buhari the President Elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, thousands of fans and supporters of the APC took to the streets in celebration of their Presidential Candidate’s victory. Those who spoke to our reporters posited that Buhari’s victory will pave the way for the total victory of Umana Okon Umana.
But in a swift reaction and what many has since described as a morale boaster, the Chairman of the PDP Governors forum has restated that the PDP will win in at least twenty states of the federation. Akpabio is of the opinion that the victory of Buhari does not translate to victory for the APC gubernatorial candidates. He called on the people of Akwa Ibom State not to despair and not to be jittery as the state is totally in the hands of the PDP and no amount of noise from the APC can cause thewm to lose the state.
Akpabio sources say has developed confidence that the PDP candidate Mr. Udom Emmanuel will win the forthcoming Governorship election and House of Assembly seats in the state.
