The Akwa Ibom Change Ambassadors (ACA) has said that some state Governors remain a cog in the wheel of the nation’s progress.
In a statement in Uyo, the group said for
Governor Godswill Akpabio and a few PDP Governors not to accept the
result of the poll shows those threatening the nation’s democracy.
“The PDP Governors led by Governor Akpabio
are a threat to the nation’s democracy, its stability, its growth and
its progress, for not accepting the result of the polls. Even the blind
can see that there is joy in the land over the elections. For them,
rigging is a past time. So, they do not like anything that is free and
fair. Even when they rigged for the President in their states, they
still failed to deliver him,” the statement said.
The group said it was not enough for the
Governors to commend the President for conceding victory, “without
following his footsteps by congratulating the President-elect.”
ACA also warned Governor Akpabio from
furthering any election case on behalf of the President, since “Akwa
Ibom money has been used too much for things that does not bring glory
to the state.”
“It is high time Akpabio kept our money
intact. No other Governor will sponsor the case. It is only himself who
will. We need money for salaries, to pay contracts, to prepare for
transition, etc. He should not waste our money again,” the statement
concluded.
… advises Akwa Ibom people to join the winning team
The Akwa
Ibom Change Ambassadors (ACA) has called on all eligible voters in Akwa
Ibom State to vote in the All Progressive Congress (APC) gubernatorial
candidate, Obong Umana Umana on April 11, 2015, so as to join the
winning and governing party.
The group’s National Coordinator, Ofon Udoh, in a statement in Uyo said this was important to protect and defend the state from whatever may occour if it is seen as “opposition” state after the elections, citing the case of Rivers state and Lagos State that have severally been “persecuted” as a result of having an “opposition” Governor in its saddle.
The group, however, believes that though General Mohammadu Buhari has said he will not discriminate in his government, it was still necessary for Akwa Ibom to became part of those who will set the proper agenda for the growth, stability, progress and development of the nation after May 29, 2015.
ACA congratulated General Buhari, saying he is the real change Nigeria needs just as Umana remains the change Akwa Ibom also need. The group also said President Jonathan was a great statesman for conceding defeat to the APC.
