Royal Father solicits remedy for erosion in Ekeya, Okobo

Following the recent accident occasioned by the menace of gully erosion in Ekeya-Okobo in Okobo Local Government Area, the Village Head, Chief Michael Anyin has passionately appealed to the Akwa Ibom State government and other relevant agencies to salvage the affected area.

This advocacy came at the hills of a recent mishap in one of the worst affected area – Ufok Esuk Ekeya, where at least four persons lost their lives in a motor bike accident last week Friday night.

Speaking to journalist at the sight of the accident, Chief Anyin lamented that if the deep-eating gully erosion along Ndon Ebom, Esuk Inwang, Ekpene Ukim Ekeya road, the disaster would have been averted.

Chief Anyin who hinted that Ekeya-Okobo comprising over six gazette villages have time without number alerted different Local and State Representatives and Political Appointees from the are however regretted that the menace was becoming more devastating.

The Royal Father equally rated the member representing Okobo State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Princess Felicia Bassey, who is also the Deputy Speaker high particular in touching lives and empowerment of youth in the constituency.

But to the Transition Chairman of Okobo Local Government Area, Mr. Ubuo E. Ubuo, the traditional ruler enjoin him to be more accessible to both the village heads and community leaders in Okobo, pointing out that “even if there is no money to give out as was the case previously, regular visits and courtesy calls of Royal Fathers would give sense of belonging and concern”.

Chief Anyin who is also the Chapter Chairman of Mboho Mme Eteidung – Association of Village Heads in OKobo also opined that the next Paramount Ruler for Okobo should be emerge from Atak Oro axis with Chief Bassey Okon Bassey - the longest serving Clan Head in Okobo Local Government Area taking the slot. 

Chief Anyin also commented that since the creation of Okobo Local Govt. Area, Atak Oro axis of the LGA has never sat on the Paramount Ruler Stool, similar expressed optimism that with the obsequies of late paramount, Obong Bassey Andem Ibok coming up next week, it would be pertinent to prepare the minds of member of Okobo Traditional Rulers Council to the fact that equity should play out in the selection of Offiong Bassey Okon Bassey (BOB) as the next Paramount Ruler of Okobo Local Govt. Area.
