Foundation College of Technology Conducts 4th Matriculation Ceremony * Plans Underway to make it fully residential

The Chairman Governing Council of the Foundation College of Technology, Ikot Idem, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, Mr. Edet Ekanem has disclosed that plans are underway to make the institution fully residential for students in the campus.

Mr. Edet Ekanem made this known during the 4th Matriculation Ceremony of the school held on Friday, 28th April, 2017 at the College Convocation Park.  

According to the Chairman, the provision of hostel accommodation to the students and would-be students of the College would enhance improved academic performance and moral upbringing of the students.  He added that the College has provided world-class facilities including well-equipped laboratories, workshops, libraries, lecture halls etc. for all the programmes offered, to facilitate easy learning.  

The Chairman highlighted that the institution is aimed at preparing students to have a competitive advantage in the global and technologically driven society, while its programmes are specifically designed to develop low and middle cadre manpower to meet the need of H-technology industries.


Mr. Ekanem averred that the institution is building capacity as part of its contribution to the industrialization policy of Governor Udom Emmanuel led administration in the state; and is working in line with the dakkada philosophy to attain the desired growth and development in the state.  He appealed to government to work on the bad road leading to the College in order to gain easy access to the place.

He urged the matriculating students to be steadfast, hardworking and diligent in their studies while shunning cultism, examination malpractice and other social vices that would be detrimental to their success in academics.

On his part, the Rector of the College, Engr. Victor Bassey thanked God for making the day a reality.  He pointed out that the College is a distinct technological and scientific based tertiary institution with the objective of preparing students on career focused programmes and technical skills acquisition to meet the pressing need of Nigeria which is to diversify from crude oil sales dependent economy, to an industrialized nation.

Highlighting the core values of the College to include diligence, hard work, excellence, discipline, teamwork as well as innovations, Mr. Bassey advised the matriculating students to imbibe these core values and shun hooliganism and other forms of vices that could disrupt their successes in life and kill their future dreams and aspiration.

Goodwill messages were drawn from individuals, corporate bodies as well as Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, Essien Udim LGA.

The matriculating students pledged to pursue their studies with diligence, submit to constituted authorities and shun any form of vices that is against the tenets of the institution.

Highpoint of the occasion was the formal admission of the over three hundred matriculating students into the College.

The Rector, Federal Polytechnic Ukana, Professor Balana Obomanu who was represented by Dean of Programmes, Mr. Edet Elijah Etok was part of the dignitaries that graced the occasion.
