As aspirants around the state get busy in their preparations for the forthcoming governorship election, they are indirectly creating a falsehood that the existence of an immortal God is a fallacy. When God says yes, can anyone reply in the negative? It would be recalled that a clergy of the Christ Deliverance Ministry Inc, Lagos, His lordship, Prophet Ekong Ituen had predicted that Governor Akpabio will shamefully be removed from office by the jurisdiction of a competent court. This prediction has timelessly been affirmed by other prophets in consonance with God’s word in Isaiah 55:11 which says “so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth, it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I send it”.
Also, the book of Numbers 23:19 asserts that “God is not a man, that he can lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent. Had he said; and shall He not make it good”. One of the great things about believing God is found in Luke 18:27, “the things which are impossible with men are possible with God”. No good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly” (Psalms 84:11). The world has rarely seen what God can do with, for and through a man who is completely yielded to Him. Martin Luther sums up being fully yielded this way; “God created the world out of nothing, and as long as we are nothing, He can make something out of us”. Habakkuk 2:3 says “for the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak and not lie; though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry”.
His Excellency, Engineer Frank Okon has long abandoned himself to destiny because of the challenges of rejection and failure which he encountered nad handled. Yet, he has in all things, put God first and certainly, God will direct and crown his efforts. Really, it does not take long to tell where a man’s treasure is. “For the eyes of the Lord searches back and forth across the whole earth, looking for people whose hearts are perfect towards Him, so that he can show His great power in helping them” (2nd Chronicle 16:19). Consider what 1st Peter says, let “Him (God) have all your worries and cares, for He is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you”.
Engineer Frank Okon sees the Bible as a book filled with stories of men and women who faced incredible challenges more than he is presently facing, and how they overcame through God’s intervention. He believes that great trials are the necessary preparations for greatness. Jesus said, “here on earth, you will have many trials and sorrows; but cheer up, for I have overcome the world.” He does not believe in losing an hour in the morning, and spending the rest of the day trying to recapture it but rather, he believes that what is past is gone and plans should be made to improve on the future. He also holds that the truth is always strong, no matter how weak it looks, and falsehood is always weak no matter how strong it looks. This is why he stands unmoved. He also believes in the world of Winston Churchill that one of the most powerful success principles of life is “never, never, never give up”. At that juncture, Margaret Thatcher advises “you may have to fight a battle more than once to win it, for failure and mistakes can be a bridge, not a barricade to success.
God has given the State a robust promise concerning change, the bold handwriting is on the wall. Change in Akwa Ibom State government should not scare or inspire people – Herbert Spencer said, “A living is distinguished from a dead thing by the multiplicity of the change at any moment taking place in it”. Changes are evidences of life; it is impossible to grow without change. We should not just dream of great accomplishments; we should stay awake and act them like our able and transforming Governor dreamt of 31 industries in 31 Local Government Areas.
A man of words and not deed is like a flower bed full of weeds. A thousand words will not leave a lasting impression as one deed will do. The story of our governor is not written with a pen, but with his actions. I like what Dwight L. Moody says: “Be humble or you’ll stumble”. The Bible also says we should draw near to God and He shall draw near to us, we should humble ourselves and be lifted by Him. Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuses instruction; but he that regards reproof shall be honoured (Proverbs).
The problems of Akwa Ibom State are not hidden but to overcome them is enigmatic and the solution we require can never come outside the auspices of God. God is the sole solution to all problems. Abandon Him and increase your sorrows, embrace Him and have your worries and trouble taken care of. The approach to God has a simple condition, patience and faith of which Engineer Frank has shown.
