The member representing Oron Federal Constituency, Hon Robinson Uwak has received the commendation of the immediate past senator representing Uyo Senatorial District, Senator Effiong Bob.

While making his remark during the visit of the duo of Onofion Luke and Bassey Albert who had gone on a consultation visit to the former senator, Bob said he was interested in Uwak for his bold representation of the interest of his people.

Senator Bob who also spoke in glowing terms about the lawmaker representing Oron federal constituency in the national assembly, Hon. Robinson Uwak, told Onofiok Luke to invite Honourable Uwak for him to adopt as his political  son explaining that he was proud of his representation of the people of Oron Federal Constituency. He described Honourable Uwak as the only federal lawmaker who speaks for and represents the state well, offering insight to the fact that the lawmaker has sponsored the bill for the establishment of Maritime University of Nigeria, Oron,  for his people.

It will be recalled that Hon. Uwak has in recent time become more vocal in calling attention to the developmental plight of his Oro people. He had insisted that the governorship mantle be thrust on Oro as of right considering that the other two major ethnic groups in the state had had their own turn in the governance of the state.

His statement has however come under fires from government apologists, who believe that the lawmaker was merely playing to the gallery because of his second term bid.

The lawmaker has since his commentary on the issue of Oro, become an idol of sort as more and more Oro people have come to identify with his robust criticism of the force that has left Oro unattended to in the eight years of the Akpabio’s administration.

Meanwhile, Hon. Uwak has contributed meaningfully to the  development of the people of his federal constituency for the period of his first term in the green chamber of the National Assembly by sponsoring over ten Bills and numerous Motions namely  the Bill for an Act to establish the Maritime University of Nigeria, Oron, which has gone through the second reading recently at the floor of the house and when  finally passed, the  properties of Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron would be transferred to the said University.

To mention but a few, Hon Uwak has sponsored other Bills among which are a Bill for an Act to Repeal the Nigeria Automotive Council And Establish the Automobile Industry Agency; a Bill for an Act to provide for Medical Professional Indemnity , to establish the Medical Negligence Complaints Committee, repeal Section 45 of the National Health Insurance Scheme Decree No. 35 of 1999 and for matters connected thereto as well as many Motions which include A Motion on the Recognition of Oro Communities of Akwa Ibom State as Oil and Gas Producing Communities and Catchment Areas; A Motion on the Neglect of Marine Transport and its Consequences on Commerce and Tourism in Nigeria; A Motion on the Need to Ensure that the Process of Establishing the Ibaka Deep Seaport is Transparent and Accountable.

Others are; A Motion for the Provision of Portable water for each of the Five Local Government Areas of Okobo, Urue Offong/Oruko, Udung Uko, Oron, and Mbo in Akwa Ibom State; A Motion on the Renovation and Furnishing of Schools in the Five Local Government Areas of Okobo, Urue Offong/Oruko, Udung Uko, Oron, and Mbo in Akwa Ibom State.; and A Motion for the Construction of Hospitals in Mbo and Udung Uko Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State, among several others.
