NDPVF/NDPSF, northerners on war path BY JOSEPH ATHANASIUS

The Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force and Niger Delta Peoples Salvation Front (NDPVF/NDPSF) is set for another round of war as they seem set to cross swords yet again with the Northerners.

The latest ground for the trouble is the linking of their respected national leader, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo – Asari in the assassination attempt on the former head of State and APC strong man, General Mohamadu Buhari (Rtd.) in Kaduna recently.
Speaking in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on Friday, 1st August, 2014 at Play Ground along Brook Street, the leader of the group in AKwa Ibom, Elder Jones Ufot protested any attempt to stain the name of their leader and demean their just and unstoppable struggle for freedom, justice and dignity.

“We declare that our leader, Da-Amakiri Tubo, (Alhaji) Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, Alabo Edi-Abali and Se-Boromabo of the Kingdom of Kalabari, the last man standing and defender general of our common good is a respected Kalabari Prince and High Chief, and a Kalabari Chief is incapable of murder. We shall resist any attempt to blackmail our leader. Let us warn, “this ground on which we stand will first sink before we shall be slaves to anybody”, Elder Ufot Maintained.

He frowned at the degree of marginalization and unfair treatment meted against the Niger Delta Region which by virtue of its natural resources sustains the economy of Nigeria.

He however, expressed joy that, the Niger Deltans have gained a sense of belonging as their son, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan emerged the President.
While calling on President Jonathan to declare forthwith his intention to contest for re-election in 2015, Ufot reminded President Jonathan that the mandate belongs to Niger Delta. Hence, his presidency is their presidency and that he cannot surrender it without their consent.

Ufot called on the Northerners to remember the alliance the Niger Delta Congress had with Northern People’s Congress that produced the National Government in 1959, Alhaji Shehu Sagari government in 1979 and Bashir Tofa government in 1993, all, who were Northerners.

“We have supported and voted for Northerners in several election in the past, we demand for your support and vote for our son and brother, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan. Whosoever cheers our cause is our friend”. Ufot reasoned.

Ufot also promised to integrate their sons and daughters who are in the position of authority into the mainstream of the struggle for justice and dignity as well as mobilizing and educating Niger Deltans against the insurgence that is trying to intrude the region.

In his remarks, the legal adviser to the group, Barr Anietie Etuk appreciated their fellow comrade in the noble struggle, noting that the group is a vehicle for total freedom and ultimate victory.

“We have finished with the creek fighting – shooting of guns. The group which has since existed is open to all Akwa Ibom people so everyone is welcome to a vanguard association that is avowed to defend, protect and uphold the interest and affairs of the people of the Niger Delta region”, Barr. Etuk maintained.

Those in attendance were Comr. Elder Jones Ufot, State leader; Comr. Victor Matthew, State secretary; Comr. Barr. Anietie Etuk, legal adviser; Comr. Festus Jonah, leader Eket Senatorial District; Comr. Dominic Ekanem, Leader Uyo Senatorial District; Comr. (Amb.) Udom Ebetor, Leader Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District; others were Comr.
