The Uyo Ward six Elders have lauded Governor Akpabio for the successful hosting of the National chairman of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Adamu Muazu and for the ground breaking ceremony in respect of the permanent site of the State Headquarters of the party at Atan Offot.
After an enlarged meeting of the ward elders, they expressed their appreciation for the historic event which also coincided with the inauguration of buses for the 31 Local chapters of the Party in the state on July 16, 2014.
In a communique issued after the meeting and endorsed by the Ward Chairman, Comrade Uwem Effiong Asuquo, alongside 18 other Elders, which was made available to our newsroom, they expressed appreciation to Alhaji Muazu for his official visit and lauded the uncommon Transformation of the State by Governor Akpabio, with particular reference to landmark projects dotting the landscape of ward six.
Among the projects highlighted in the communique are, the Ibom International Stadium, the three concentric flyovers, the PDP state Secretariat and the award of contract for the construction of Atan Offot road network.
The Elders in the statement expressed gratitude to Governor Akpabio for appointing their son Prince Enobong Uwah, Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Mineral Resources, and for the implicit confidence in him. Pledging the work, with Governor Akpabio in his succession plans come 2015, the Elders also declared their total support for zoning the governorship to Eket Senatorial District come 2015.
The Elders equally acknowledged what they disclosed, is the unique loyalty demonstrated by Prince Uwah to his boss and how dear he is held by his people of Atan Offot. The communique reads in part, “The Elders are cognizant of the unique loyalty exhibited by our dear son, Prince Enobong Uwah, Honourable Commissioner for Environment and mineral Resources in this administration and delight to record in this communique, the affection and grateful regard in which he is held by all ward elders and to express to him best wishes for continued support and loyalty in the coming year, 2015.”
The release further called on the President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan to declare interest in running for a second term in office come 2015, and commended him for the able manner he has handled the affairs of the nation, particularly, the security challenges and therefore pledged their total loyalty, solidarity and support as he continues to steer the affairs of the nation.
Ward six Elders who endorsed the communique include, chief Effiong Akpan, Hon Victor Robinson, Elder Felix Uboh, Uwem Etim, Edem Udosen, John Iboketteh, Enefiok Okon Ekanem and Nsikak Udoh. Others are, Major Mfon Usoro, Malachy Udoh, Eld inyang Udoh, Eld. Aniedi Emah, Ignatius Etuk, Effiong Tom Akpan, Samuel Godwin Usoro, Emmanuel Okon and Hon. Solomon Udosen.
