Oro youths endorses Nse Ekpenyong for House of Reps
Oro nation under the auspices of National Coucil of Oro youths last weekend paid glowing tributes to the Deputy state Chairman of the PDP, Mr. Nse Ekpenyong calling on him to declare and run for the House of Representatives position for the federal constituency as they will ensure they back him and also mobilize total support for his sucess.

Oro youths made this known when they honoured Ekpenyong at Uya Oro near Oron. The political event which attracted stakeholders from all the local Government that make up Oro nation had the likes of Chief Bassey Etim Edet, Uno Etim who who was represented, the Executive Chairman of Oron LGA, Mr. Orman Esin, Hon Bassey Anwanakak, an aide to the Governor amongst others witnessed a cultural display by the tinkoriko group.

Speaking at the event Chief Bassey Etim Edet said he was excited that the oro youths have decided to come together to back the aspiration of Ekpenyong. He called on the people to work towards the success of the PDP man even as he reiterated that the former House of Assembly man was the best man for the Oron federal Constituency seat come 2015.

While declaring the intention of the gathering Pastor Etim described Ekpenyong as a man who has touched so many lives in his sojourn on earth. He added that the people of Oro nation will be fortunate to have Ekpenyong as the next National Assembly man and also called on them to eschew bitterness, selfishness, rancor and do all they can to support the State PDP Chairman’s ambition to the National Assembly. He also prayed God to lead Ekpenyong aright so that come 2015 Oro nation will witness the dawn of a new era from the PDP strongman.

The President of the National Council of Oro youths, Hon Sylvester Medekong Uweh in his remarks observed that the youth body is not a parallel group formed to witch hunts anybody or any other existing group. He noted that the group subscribes fully to the leadership of Hon Enweme led Essu Nlap Oro. He called on all the youths to see the organization as one that is formed to satisfy their interest both culturally, educationally, politically and as a source of voice to them. Speaking on the significance of the event, he continued that Hon Nse Ekpenyong is an asset to the people of Oro nation and a blessing to Akwa Ibom state. He maintained that given the pedigree and locus of Ekpenyong in the affairs of oro nation and the empowerment of the people, the group do not have doubts in their mind that 2015 will usher in a breadth of fresh air for the people of Oron Federal Constituency. He called on sons and daughters of Oro nation to always seek the collective growth of the area and desist from insulting the government of the day.

Sylvester Uweh maintained that with Nse Ekpenyong in the helm of affairs for Oron federal Constituency, the people will have many reasons to smile. He took a swipe at those arguing that the Akpabio led administration has marginalized Oro nation and advised that they should come home and see what the Governor has done rather than sit at their offices to cast aspersions on a leader that has been acclaimed to be performing by international standard. The leader of the body who is also the speaker of Akpakip Oro youth Vanguard stressed the need for the people of Oron federal constituency to shun politics of tricks and join hands with the body and other stakeholders of Oro nation to ensure that by 2015 Nse Ekpenyong whom he described as a compassionate Oro son emerges the next House of Representatives member for the area.

Barr Edemumo Ekpong who spoke onbehalf of the youths of Oron Local Government Area said as the mother LGA of the federal constituency that the youths of Oron Local Government will play very active role towards the emergence of Nse Ekpenyong. He said Oro youths will support Nse Ekpenyong whole heartedly as he has always been with them and will know how to solve their problems. He advised the mammoth crowd that witnessed the occasion not to have a defeatist mentality but to at all times always strive to put in their best for the people. He described Nse Ekpenyong as the man who have invested in the people, in Oro nation and a man that will not let Oro down when he gets the ticket to the House of Representatives. 

Hon Anwanakak another aide to the Governor on Project monitoring said, the position of the House of Representatives is a serious business and should be allowed for serious minded people like Nse Ekpenyong. He pledged his total commitment to the project and informed that he hails from the same Atak Oro like the serving National Assemblyman but that he will not allow sentiments to becloud his sense of support. He said his position and that of the youths is that Nse Ekpenyong should be encouraged to the National Assembly come 2015.

A motion for the adoption of Nse Ekpenyong as the sole candidate for the House of Representatives position was moved by Hon Bassey and was seconded by Roberto. In the absence of a counter motion, the Speaker of Akpakip Oro youth vanguard Hon Sylvester Uweh declared Nse Ekpenyong as the sole candidate of Oro youths for the position of the House of Representatives come 2015.

Responding on the call to serve and endorsement, Hon Nse Ekpenyong said, he was happy to be identified out of all those angling for the House of Reps position and endorsed by the youths. He poured glowing tributes on the state Governor Godswill Akpabio whom he described as a man who understands the language of service without bias. He maintained that those who are alleging that the Governor has marginalized Oro nation are unfair to themselves, the people of Oro nation and the Governor. He queried the basis of marginalization whether it is before Akpabio, during Akpabio or whether it would be after Akpabio. 

Nse Ekpenyong maintained that as far as the people of Oro nation are concerned that the Governor Godswill Akpabio have better their lots and has not let them down. He said as a party man he can proudly say that the thoughts the Governor has for Oro people are that of good and not marginalization. He called on the people of Oro nation to avoid distractions and continue to support the Akpabio led administration which he said deserves more pat on the back than condemnations

Nse Ekpenyong promised to grow with oro people and maintained that he will consolidate on the gains already on ground while also exploring more ways of delivering democracy dividends to the people of the federal Constituency. He thanked the people for honouring him and promised to ensure that he delivers on his mandate. He maintained that Oro people will help the Governor to land well in 2015 despite all the distractions
