2015: Esit Eket youth groups root for Dr Ntekim

2015: Esit Eket youth groups root for Dr Ntekim
Dr. Effiong Assam Ntekim
Against the backdrop of a purported but politically masterminded rejection of the candidacy of an American trained super mechanical engineer, Dr. Effiong Assam Ntekim by the generality of Esit Eket people over his political ambition to bring needed changes to Akwa Ibom State and revolutionize the economy by way of industrializing it, five youth groups and other professionals have risen in absolute solidarity of his ambition.

The five groups are the Esit Eket Technicians Forum, Esit Eket Traders Association, Prestigious Ladies of Esit Eket and Esit Eket Youth Congress as well as the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), each represented by their chairmen and secretaries, reaffirmed that Dr. Ntekim, a bonafide son of Ikpa town in Esit Eket local government area, had on Saturday, February 15, 2014, hosted the gamut of the Esit Eket PDP chapter and that he was formerly received into the party’s fold by the Vice Chairman of Esit Eket Local Government Area, Hon. EnobongAsuboh, who led others in the exercise. He was the council’s chairman’s representative at the occasion, the groups said.

The groups comprising four youth groups and one professional body alluded in a release issued on Wednesday, February 19, 2014, and jointly signed by all the representatives here reproduced: Abia Daniel and UdoNseyoUso for Esit Eket Technicians Forum, Monday Ete and Friday Jack for Esit Eket Traders Association, Dina Friday and Uduak Isaac for Prestigious Ladies of Esit Eket while Friday Urua and Umoh Eto represented Esit Eket Youth Congress.

Friday Inokon and Billie Udofot signed on behalf of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) all signees are chairmen and secretaries of respective associations.

The groups rose unanimously and condemned the current sustained media campaigns in the state aimed at tarnishing the image and good works of the PDP aspirant in the run up to the 2015 governorship and demanded an end to this character assassination stressing that Dr. Ntekim represents the only hope for the area as his candidacy carries with it integrity, sound mindedness and his vision for the state is a departure from the usual political slangs and institutionalized deceit.

They agreed that the current negative media campaigns aimed at misinforming the populace will be counterproductive as the spirit of the aspirant can’t and won’t be broken, having determined to bring needed verve into the gubernatorial race, aimed at turning things around for the betterment of the Akwa Ibom society given his contact, exposure, rich vein of experience as well as having superintended over affairs of exceedingly great blue chips companies overseas particularly in the United States of America (USA).

They intoned that Engineer Ntekim, a highly regarded cerebral individual, who has done much in terms of his contributions to the upliftment of the status of Esit Eket people among his peers should be commended, instead of the current campaign of calumny by some faceless, shameless politicians in the area who are seeking their master’s praise at the expense of decency, integrity and decorum.

The groups noted that Ntekim’s impeccable contributions to Esit Eket people amongst others stand him out as a public spirited individual with good intentions for the local folks and the area in general. For instance, the groups said the aspirant single handedly built and equipped an ultra modern Civil Centre for the community of Ikpa, brought electricity to many homes aside from personally empowering youths and women of the area; he also pays medical bills for indigent women, widows and the elderly.

The groups then on the strength of his contributions to the welfare of his people canvassed for a holistic support for his aspiration saying “he is the face of a new political agenda for the state in the current dispensation”.

The bodies also noted “Dr. Ntekim, an industrialist par excellence, astute politician, consummate businessman, father and lover of sound education has promised to transform the state’s economy in five years if given the opportunity to serve the state by his political platform and the electorate, saying:

“This is the area we should show concern because our state has remained in the wilderness of non-development for many years. For 27 years now, the state sulks development wise”, adding, “we really need a departure from the usual”.

“The sustained media hype in an attempt to tarnish the adoption of Dr. Ntekim by the good people of the Esit Eket PDP as their sole candidate for the 2015 race by some aggrieved but faceless persons from the area will not deter the aspirant from carrying out his mission to salvage the state and continue in the good works which the incumbent governor, Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio has already started as he (Ntekim), has already promised to build on that foundation if given the chance to lead the state” the groups stressed.

Dr. Ntekim’s desire to contest the 2015 gubernatorial election is coming under severe media attacks allegedly sponsored by some faceless politicians from the Esit Eket axis who felt threatened by the vibrancy brought into the game by this enigma but the five groups are warming up to repel any attacks/opposition from any quarter saying “we were present at the  home of Ntekim when he met with the stakeholders over his political ambition for 2015 and that we are witnesses that his hand was raised by the vice Chairman of Esit Eket, Hon. EnobongAsubob as their sole candidate” for the 2015 governorship election.

The leadership of the five groups said “speeches were even made by prominent sons and daughters from the area in appreciation of Ntekim’s sterling leadership qualities, but we are appalled by the sudden denial by some faceless persons from the area”, in the state media.

The groups have therefore urged the aspirant not to be deterred by the hatchet job done by persons whose only known handwork remain “the pull him down syndrome”, saying that Ntekim’s political aspiration remains everybody’s business in the area.
