Annang Nation honours Enoidem as Best Commissioner

Commissioner for Special Duties Barr Emmanuel Enoidem was last week honoured by Annang nation as the best commissioner from the region.

 Speaking under the auspices of Annang Peoples Assembly, the President of the group Obong Aniebiet Idiong popularly known as Tanker said the Assembly after a thorough assessment and a call for nominations amongst members had voted and Enoidem was found fit as the best commissioner to have ever come out of Annang nation.

Idiong stressed that even though the award is not to create ethnic divisions in the state, he maintained that Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem has demonstrated uncommon leadership skills and is one of those that has completely interpreted the goals and dreams of the state Governor Chief Godswill Akpabio whom he described as a leader with the heart of gold.


The Assembly described Enoidem as a rare gem and one who has not forgotten his roots both in politics and in other spheres of life. They maintained that Barr Emmanuel Enoidem is one man that has created and has left a remarkable impact in the lives of so many people that has come in contact with him.

 They noted that one of the sterling qualities of Enoidem is his ability to build bridges of unity across all the ethnic nationalities in the state, a feat they described as the qualities of a statesman. They maintained that when Enoidem was not yet a commissioner, he was a helper.

In his address before presenting the plague of the award to the Special Duties Commissioner, Aniebiet Idiong appealed to the commissioner to see the award on him as a sincere assessment and analysis that comes from them just to spur him up to continue adding more of his services to the Government of Akwa Ibom State. The Assembly however called on the State Commissioner for Special Duties to please carry them along in the political affairs of the state as according to them Emmanuel Enoidem is a torch bearer and they will not fail to identify whole heartedly with the direction that will be shown them.

The Annang Peoples Assembly however used that opportunity to appeal for financial support, mobility to enable them inaugurate the chapter across all the local Governments Area in Annang land. The group had also listed some of their achievements to include enforcement of Security in Annang land, creating of enabling environment for businesses, fostering unity and togetherness in the area amongst others.

Responding, the awardee Hon Barr Emmanuel Enoidem said he is humbled by the award. He described the aims and objectives of Annang Peoples Assembly as commendable and advised them to always seek the path of truth, equity and fairness. The Special Duties Commissioner who was flanked by the permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr. Nestor Udoh reminded the people that Akwa Ibom is one and as such everybody should strive to ensure that all they do is towards the greater unity of the state. He said although he does not know the criterion that was used to pick him as the best Annang Commissioner, but that he is just doing the services that he was appointed to do by the Governor Godswill Akpabio whom he described as coming from God.

Enoidem while speaking on Akpabio said, “Akpabio came from God, his leadership is second to none. I don’t know the criterion you people used to assess me but all I know is that I was given an opportunity to serve and I did it well.”

Furthermore, Enoidem stressed the need for people to always serve very well when they are given an opportunity to serve. He said, when you have an opportunity to serve, serve as if there is no tomorrow.
