Kufre house wins TIS Inter Sports meet

Kufre House which adorned all blue colour has emerged the overall winner of the 2014 inter house sports competition of the Tower of Ivory Schools. The inter house sports which grand finale took place at the school premises in Ediene Abak had four houses, Enomfon, Ebong, Ayakeme and Kufre House challenging for medals.

Earlier in the day, there was a match past between the four competing houses. Other events for the day were discuss throw, long jump, relay race, 100 metres, 200 meters and marathon race. As well as dancing, choreography and other varieties which students and pupils participated while having a field day.

Chairman on the occasion Barr Okon Okon in his speech said, he is happy that the management of Tower of Ivory Schools have found it fit to host children to such a remarkable inter house sports competition. He hinted that the events that were lined up are the best of its kind in the history of the state and urged Parents to send their children to Tower of Ivory Schools which he described as a breed apart.


He charged the Chairman Board of Governors of Tower of Ivory Schools not to relent in his efforts in ensuring that he maintains the standard of Education that the institution is known to possess. He charged the competing houses to show spirit of Sportsmanship as according to him the future of the state belongs to them.

Barr Okon maintained that desirability of Sports is well articulated over the years and added that sports globally is serious business even as he urged people to invest their time, resources and talents adding that people have so much to reap when they invest in sports.

He expressed gratitude to the management of the School for having appointed him the Chairman on the occasion

The father of the day commended the management of the school for putting up such sports meet and described the institution as one of the best in the continent.

The games master of the school informed the press that the inter house sports is part of the routine of the school to encourage sporting activities. He described the School as an academic institution that strives for excellence in both academics and in sports and urged parents to send their children and wards to Tower of Ivory Schools.

The Director of Schools, Mrs. Ekpoudom described the Inter House sports competition as a way of relaxing the minds of the students and encouraging them to take part in sporting activities. Ekpoudom a professional teacher informed that the School had taken it upon itself to always ensure that it at all times lives up to the expectations of what Education is meant to be.

The Chairman Board of Governors of Tower of Ivory Schools in his remark thanked the parents and wards as well as other guests for finding time to attend the 2014 Inter House Sports of the Institution and reiterated the determination of the management of TIS to ensure that the school remains the best centre of learning East of the Niger. He announced a remarkable discounts for students who perform exceedingly well in the examinations. While welcoming all to the Inter House Sports meet, he maintained that the importance of Sports cannot be over emphasized.

The matron of Kufre House, Miss KufreEkpoudom while commending her House for the victory expressed thanks to God for standing by the school management throughout the duration of the inter House sports competition. She said all Houses made the school proud. She promised to encourage her House to ensure that they win the tournament by next year, 2015.

The House master said the Kufre House emerged the overall winner because they were determined to win and that was why they worked so hard to ensure that they repeat the feat they recorded last year.
