The authorities of Esit Eket Council, the political class, youths, women and choral groups converged at Uquo, the council secretariat to renew their vow to commit their activities to God for divine direction.
“My administration had made a covenant with God that on every 30th January, the council will gather to commit her activities, programmes and policies to God for divine direction”, Hon. Ibanga Etang said.
He noted the Solemn Assembly is in line with the social programmes of Governor Godswill Akpabio to build the state on the path of love, truth and unity.
The council boss, paid glowing tributes to Governor Akpabio for his wisdom to enthrone God first in all his dealings, which has resulted in the cordial industrial peace enjoyed in the state.
Hon. Etang, recalled, the result of the 2013 edition of annual prayers are visible and clear in the successful completion of mega projects especially the ultra modern administrative complex which foundation was laid the last time we gathered here to pray.
He appreciated the support and understanding of the legislators, the executive and the political class for their sacrifices to ensure that important projects like Ultra Modern Secretariat Complex is completed and ready for commissioning within the first quarter of this year.
Etang emphasized that apart from religious gathering, the council continues to rely on regular prayers as the key to achieving visions and expectations of his administration.
He sued for prayers for a peaceful and successful conduct of the 2015 general elections which preparations had begun, and appealed to youth to shun thuggery, cultism and other vices before, during and after elections.
Speaking on the theme, “O’ God, let the later rain fall”, the guest speaker and Presiding Bishop of New Birth Bible Church, Uyo, Dr. Josephine Eggah admonished Hon. Ibanga Etang to continue to provide specifically for the poor, orphans, widows and the physically challenged in order to be remembered by God.
She opined, Esit Eket Council is blessed with a leader that is dear to God’s heart who has help him performed exceedingly better than others.
The woman of God emphasized, the introduction of prayers by Governor Godswill Akpabio as a regular schedule in government house and business has enable him to succeed despite all the myriad of criticism and distractions.
Eggah therefore cautioned opponent and anti democratic forces to sheath their sword to enable Etang restore Esit Eket to its rightful position in economic growth and development.
Bishop Eggah averred, ‘’you must recognized God as your promoter and continue to pray unceasingly’, even as she warned youth not to insult elders nor the elders to provoke their children.
The assembly witness special prayer session for the successful conduct of the 2015 general election, adoration and thanksgiving for God’s mercies, confession and protection of the council chairman and his cabinet, legislature, staff, etc.
