Chairman of Urueoffong Oruko Local Government Area, Rt. Hon Okon Tom Osung , member representing Urueoffong at the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Barr Bassey Etienam and the member representing Oron Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon Robinson Uwak last Sunday were hosted at The Apostolic Church Oruko by the Urueoffong OrukoPeoples Alliance.

The event which attracted political stalwarts, clergies, the leadership and followership of the area and that of Oro extraction was the best of its kind as the politicians used the opportunity to reiterate their love for God and their determination to serve the people with all their hearts.


The President General of the Alliance who is the member representing Urueoffong Oruko at the State House of Assembly Barr Bassey Etienam read the second Bible reading from the book of second Corinthians 7vs 1to 6. Bassey Etienam in his remarks noted that the Alliance had to come to celebrate and thank God for sparing their lives and allowing them to be blessings to the people they are representing. He commended the Church for always praying for them and noted that it is their determination to ensure that they make the people of Urueoffong Oruko to enjoy the dividends of Democracy. He commended the National Assembly member Robinson Uwak for coming to share in the joy of the moment with them. He called on all lovers of progress which they represent to always remember them in their prayers.

 He announced a donation of some fat sums of money to the church for the renovation project that is ongoing in the Assembly. Etienam had very kind words for the Executive Chairman of Urueoffong Oruko, Okon Tom Osung whom he said is a trail blazer in Local Government Administration and described him as the pride of Urueoffong Oruko whose giant strides in Grassroots administration has saw him emerged as the second best performing Council Chairman in the whole country. He noted that Urueoffong Oruko is proud of Okon Tom Osung.

The National Assembly member Robinson Uwak in his speech acknowledged the commendations on him as the man who fought for Oro nation to be included as an Oil bearing community. He appreciated the people for the support they gave to him during and after the elections and promised that he will not rest on his oars as he continues his effective representation of the people. Uwak stressed the need for the people to be united and encouraged them to be supportive of the Government of the day.

On the council Chairman of Urueoffong Oruko, Uwak poured encomiums on Okon Tom Osung and told the people that Oro nation is proud of Osung whom he said had labored for the Local Government Area and has made the area proud.

While speaking at the occasion Okon Tom Osung emphasized that he will not rest until he has successfully transformed UrueoffongOruko Local Government Area. He appreciated Governor Godswill Akpabio, Bassey Etienam, Robinson Uwak, his legislative arm of government, the PDP at the state and Local Government level, his Vice, members of his Exco, the church and all the citizens of UrueoffongOruko for the support extended to him to get this far in his administration. He maintained that without their cooperation, he would not have gone this far and promised not to relent in his efforts of ensuring that he delivers dividends of Democracy to the people.

The field superintendent of The Apostolic Church, Oron in his homily tasked the politicians to always do good to the people and not relent efforts in their determination to ensure that they govern well. Apostle Uye further prayed for God’s wisdom on Osung and others and asked for God’s direction for them in all their endeavours. Mouthwatering cash was donated to the church for the renovation and furnishing. The reception for the event was however held at the Oruko Unity hall built and equipped by Rt. Hon Okon Tom Osung.
