Banner urging Ekong Sampson to run for House of Representatives
The member representing Mkpat Enin state constituency at the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Barr Ekong Sampson was over the weekend honoured with the title of Eduek ayeyin of Ukpum Minya. The ceremony took place at a secondary School at Minya clan were the clan head was also corronated.
A release by the committee said that Ekong Sampson was honoured because of his outstanding and meritorious services to the people of the clan. They described Ekong Sampson as a good grandson who has done the grandfathers and mothers great. They eulogized Ekong Sampson and promised to ensure that he gets to the zenith of his political career.
At the reception which was put together by some groups in Mkpat Enin such as Mboho Mkparawa Mkpat Enin, Uyio Mkparawa Mkpat Enin and others, they all had kind words and goodwill messages to the Assemblyman whom they described as a good material and a reliable Mkpat Enin Citizen. The reception took place at the Ukpum Minya Clan centre which was built and furnished by Ekong Sampson.
The ceremony had in attendance the serving commissioner for commerce and industry, Arch Nkangude, former council Chairman of Eastern Obolo Hon Charles Mbong other political stakeholders of Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo/Mkpat Enin Federal Constituency amongst others. PDP officers from Mkpat Enin also graced the Occasion.
Ekong Sampson in his speech at the event said he was humbled by the chieftaincy title conferred on him. Sampson who spoke amidst applause and celebration said he will always ensure he does his best to the growth of the Local Government Area.
He appealed to the people to continue supporting the state Gopvernor Godswill Akpabio whom he described as a man who is out to ensure that the people of the state are offered the best form of leadership. He posited that he was ready to heed the call of the people to run for a higher political office in due course.
Commissioner Nkangude in his speech appreciated the people of Ukpum Minya for the honour done Ekong Sampson by conferring on him the chieftaincy title of Eduek Ayeyin of the community. He extoled Ekong Sampson on his humility and reiterated the decision of the Akpabio led Government to touch every nook and crannies of the society of Akwa Ibom.
Charles Mbong called on the people to support Akpabio administration, the PDP and the aspirations of Hon Ekong Sampson. He stressed that all the people that are leaving PDP for the APC are political exhaust pipes as according to him, “APC is an exhaust pipe of the PDP” he called on the people to continue in the support for PDP as according to him the party has a national outlook and will accommodate the interest of a common man. It was indeed a day of Glory for Ekong Sampson.
Others who were conferred with Chieftaincy titles were the Deputy Governor Valerie Ebe, Senator Helen Esuene, Akpan Micah.
