Ukanafun Lawmaker tasks couple to cherish, respect wedlock

The member representing the good people of Ukanafun State Constituency at the state House of Assembly, Hon. (Deacon) Otobong J. Akpan has stressed the need for couple to inculcate the virtue of mutual love, respect and understanding in their marital affairs, saying that such are essential ingredients in keeping marriage alive.

The erudite lawmaker gave the advice last weekend during a traditional marriage ceremony between former Miss Thelma and Idongesit Godfrey held at Aka Offot community, Uyo.

Hon. Otobong Akpan who is the Chairman, House Committee on Projects, Monitoring and Implementation reiterated that when there is equal love, respect and understanding between husband and wife that peace, unity and overwhelming joy would be attainable.

Hon. Akpan, who also graced the occasion with his beautiful wife, admonished the couple to build their relationship with the flames of love, respect, understanding, tolerance and above all, the scriptural principles, adding that such virtues would act as strengths to their marital union.

He noted that ‘marriage was a special ordination from God and mainly for two inseparable mortals who henceforth become one except by death’, noting that it should be enjoyed than endured.
