Akpabio to construct broken bridges at Nto Edino, Obot Akara
Governor Akpabio has pledged to award contract for the construction of bridges in Obot Akara Local Government Area to ease transportation of people and goods in the area.

Akpabio who stated this Tuesday at Nto Edino, Obot Akara headquarters during the PDP governorship rally in Obot Akara was responding to a request by a one-time deputy governor of Akwa Ibom, Obong Christopher Ekpenyong that three bailey bridges had broken down, thus hampering movement of people and school children in the area.

Akpabio who said he was shocked by the story of the broken down bridges which are hampering movement of people in the area assured to construct the bridges, noting that whatever remains the incoming administration will complete them.

On the provision infrastructure in the area, he maintained that his administration has brought improvement in roads, electricity and tourism projects to the people of Obot Akara.

The governor however acknowledged the display of sportsmanship by most of the losers in the last election primaries conducted by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State, saying the action has brought to limelight the level of integrity and steadfastness by members in the party.

He said the PDP administration in the State has taken care of the interest of members who have any issue arising from the last primaries, lauding the readiness of those who lost in the primaries to embrace winners and work for the collective winning of the party in the next election.

Akpabio told the people of Obot Akara that the PDP administration deserves more votes from them in the next general election to guarantee more people oriented projects, indicating that his administration started the transformation of the State from the urban centres, explaining that the rural communities are being taken care of gradually.

The State Chief Executive who stressed that the present administration would not hand over to greedy individuals, urged them to accept the candidates produced by the PDP at all levels for the next general elections for empowerment and job creation for the teaming youths.

The governorship candidate of the PDP, Mr. Udom Emmanuel said the response of the people was a great event that has brought a rewritten of history, promising to evolve a practical administrative model in the State.

Emmanuel, accompanied by his wife, Martha, said institutions and organisations would be partnered to bring Cooperate Social Responsibilities (CSR) to communities in the States, while an international market would be built to bring a market for farm products.

He stated that a statistics of unemployed youths would be taken by his administration to ensure that the youths and women are not left behind.

The rally was addressed by the former deputy governor, Dr. Chris Ekpenyong; a former military administrator and director general of Udom Emmanuel PDP governorship campaign, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga; the State chairman of the PDP, Obong Paul Ekpo, the commissioner for youth and sports, Mr. Monday Ebong Uko; and others watched by wife of the governor, Mrs. Ekaette.
