Governor Godswill Akpabio has called on the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) to reduce its bureaucratic bottleneck and create avenue for the speedy registration of businesses.
The Governor made the call when the Board and Management of the Commission paid him a courtesy call in Government House, Uyo.
Represented by his Deputy, Lady Valerie Ebe, Governor Akpabio stressed the need for the people of the state to have access to get their businesses registered rather than patronize illegal practitioners for such businesses.
He said that the government has provided a conducive environment with requisite infrastructure to boost industrialization.
He congratulated the Board Chairman, Otunba Funsho Lawal, for the various innovations and reforms brought into the Commission through his leadership and thanked him for choosing Uyo as the venue for its retreat.
Earlier in his speech, Otunba Lawal lauded the infrastructural transformation witnessed in the state, saying that the commission choosed Akwa Ibom for its retreat because they considered it a conducive environment for businesses to thrive.
He said that the retreat was to sensitize the business community on the several innovations and services in the commission, maintaining that one can get his business registered within 24 hours and announced the existence of a counseling unit in the Commission for the revival of failed businesses.
Otunba Lawal charged the business community to take advantage of the several reforms to grow their businesses and access the various opportunities across the globe.
The Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mr. Ufot Nkangudeh, lauded the Commission for the reforms and further stressed on the need for the Commission to expedite action on speedy registration of businesses.
The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr. Aniekan Umanah, briefed the Commission on the laudable investment opportunities and the landmark infrastructural transformation in the state as well as the various welfare services provided for citizens of the state by the Akpabio-led administration.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the State Chambers of Commerce, Agriculture, Mines and Industry, Dr. Okon Emah, expressed appreciation for the enlightenment programme and urged the CAC to explore ways of ensuring that the cost of running business is reduced to the barest.
