Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has elected its new national executive committee to pilot the affairs of the body for the new political dispensation with Essien Udim local government chairman, Obong Nse Ntuen, as the new national deputy chairman.
In a free and fair elections conducted at ALGON national headquarters in Abuja on Monday, January 20, 2014, Hon. Yusuf Danjuma Akuso of Kaduna State emerged the new National chairman and Obong Nse Ntuen as the deputy.
The body elected the Lagos State Flag bearer, Mr. Segun Agbaje as the treasurer ad Enugu State ALGON boss, Chief Cornelius Nnaji as its national Publicity Secretary, while Mr. Walson Chubby from Bayelsa State emerged financial secretary.
Imo State ALGON Chairman, Lady Chioma Ogeke won the new executive seat as the national ex-officio member while Barr. Danadummi Agbu from Taraba State emerged as the body’s legal adviser.
In a telephone chat with the Akwa Ibom State ALGON treasurer, Obong Anthony Akan, remarked that Obong Nse Ntuen was elected the deputy national chairman based on his track records in local government administrations since assumption of office as the State ALGON Chairman.
Obong Akan who is also Chairman of Uruan Local Government Council, maintained that ALGON in Akwa Ibom and Nigeria have enjoyed relative peace and discipline through the leadership and contribution of the Essien Udim Council Boss.
He expressed gratitude to all members for their sense of belonging and coming together to elect new executive committee to the best interest of all the local government councils in the country.
