Assemblyman donates clan centre to constituent


Praises galore poured in for the member representing Mkpat Enin State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Ekong Sampson when he handed over a clan centre which he personally reconstructed at Iffe, in Ikpa Ikono Clan. 
 
Barrister Sampson did this as part of his routine generosity to his constituents.
As part of the event, the lawmaker presented skills acquisition equipments to some youths of Ikpa Ikono Clan under his empowerment programme (Ekong Sampson Empowerment Program), ESEP. Empowerment equipment given to the beneficiaries included:
A complete set of aluminum doors/windows profiling equipment to Mr. Edidion Aniefiok Dickson.

 
Welding equipment with generating set given to Mr. Anietie Ndem Ikot.
A complete set of hair barbing saloon equipment given to Mr. Friday Akpan Ayara
Shoe-making equipment with generating set, grinding machine, furniture and two pairs of lash, given to Mr. Iniobong Obong.
 
Inaugurating the hall, Barr. Ekong Sampson assured the people that the year 2014 is a very promising one for Mkpat Enin Local Government Area and for lovers of progress. He expressed great joy in witnessing and participating in the inauguration of the hall which he described as the Ikpa Ikono Clan Centre of Unity.
 
Barr. Sampson advised the people and youths to make good use of the hall for functions. He made a donation of one hundred thousand naira to the first couple that will use the hall for their wedding event.
 
Presenting the empowerment equipments, Barr. Sampson advised the beneficiaries of the empowerment package to be diligent in their business to reap maximum benefits and to extend the opportunity to others, assuring that the gesture would be sustained. He assured that the empowerment programme, ESEP, would provide skill acquisition equipment and scholarship/bursary to youths in all the four clans in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area.
 
Present during the event were stakeholders in Ikpa Ikono Clan, including the Paramount Ruler of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, His Royal Majesty, Edidem Akpan Akpan Ekpene, the Village Head of Iffe, Eteidung Akpan Harrison, the Village Head of Ikot Eda, Eteidung Atat Usoro, the Village Head of Ikot Unya, Eteidung Joseph Maurice, the Ikpa Ikono Clan Youth President, Comrade Udeme Vincent Udoh, Obong Mkparawa Mkpat Enin, Comrade Martin Ntuen Obong, Dr. Edidiong Atata, Chief Monday Akpan Ebe Ute, Chief Cletus Okodi and the chairman, Forum of PDP Ward Chairmen in Mkpat Enin, Chief T. J. Udo, youths and women.
 
The Paramount Ruler, Edidem Akpan Akpan Ekpene thanked Chief Dr. Godswill Obot Akpabio for his love and magnanimity as demonstrated in the uncommon transformation drive which he said has begun to reach Mkpat Enin LGA through the delivery of democratic dividends by Rt. Hon. Barr. Ekong Sampson. He commended Rt. Hon. Barr. Ekong Sampson, whom he described as a respected son of Ikpa Ikono, Mkpat Enin and Akwa Ibom State who he said has always demonstrated great love for his people by consistently performing excellently as a political office holder. He charged all other political office holders in the Local Government Area to emulate the good examples of Rt. Hon. Barr. Ekong Sampson by striving to perform equitably in relation to their office.
 
To the empowerment recipients, Edidem Akpan Akpan Ekpene dropped a word of advice to the effect that they should not take the gesture of the lawmaker lightly, rather that they should work hard in the area of their chosen trade to reciprocate his magnanimity with diligence, hardwork and prudence in order to encourage him to do more for his people.
 
The committee chairman of the empowerment programme, Mr. Isang Usoro, thanked Barrister Ekong Sampson for placing the wellbeing of Mkpat Enin youths and the development of the area paramount in his agenda. He called on the recipients to make judicious use of the equipment they had received.
 
On behalf of the host village, Iffe Town, where the clan hall is situated, Mr. Ufot Abia, a former supervisor for agriculture in Mkpat Enin Local Government Council, thanked Barrister Sampson for his care and developmental drive in the area as demonstrated in his presenting a befitting meeting hall, and the empowerment items to his people. He assured the donor and the Ikpa Ikono people of the effective management of the facility praying God to bless and protect the lawmaker, granting all his future aspirations.
