Desparate days in Nsit Atai- Chairman linked to Mbiam

Desparate days in Nsit Atai- Chairman linked to Mbiam

As the 2015 general election gathers the heat in Nsit Atai Local Government Area, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Mark Esset is alleged to have been administering Mbiam to his supporters to ensure their complete loyalty before giving them anything; a very reliable source from the local government who is a member of the local government executive council disclosed this to our reporter recently. The source who pleaded anonymity said “Mr. Mark Esset is doing this because of his House of Assembly ambition since he has learned from what happened to his predecessor, Hon. Ibanga Bassey Akpan who was deceived by the people to spend money without getting the House of Assembly ticket”.

The source also alleged that Hon. Esset has been using diabolic means to entice the people; maintaining that out of the 6 vehicles he had distributed to his supporters to mark his first one year in office, 3 have recently been involved in ghastly accident that claimed lives while one person sold out his own on realizing the diabolic manipulations surrounding those vehicles.

The source further said that Hon. Esset administers “mbiam” to supporters, including supervisors and councilors to induce loyalty before handing them any reasonable amount of money.
On the missing 5 official vehicles, the source revealed that Mr. Mark Eset sold the vehicles out to his loyal supporter, vice chairman, Mr. Smart Ben and some of his family members.

He also explained that the chairman was running Nsit Atai as his private business with no respect to anybody in the area including the Elders.
He alleged that Mark Eset uses one year sure –p Money sent by the Federal Government   to establish his own private businesses and revamp those that were non functional.

The source mentioned categorically the newly constructed filling station (Emset at Itam along Calabar Itu Highway) and purchase of three trucks for supply of gas in the filling station.

He further said that the chairman is using the secretariat Annex under construction at the council to extort money including the renovated chairman’s lodge that has now turned to traditional rulers council which he allegedly constructed from the foundation to completion, with the sum of over 11 million naira, while claiming that the Secretariat annex which has been abandoned has so far taken over 120 million naira from the council but is still at about 40 percent completion.

But the Chairman of Nsit Atai Local Government Area, Elder Mark Esset in his reaction said he does not associate with mbiam or anything that is related to mbiam. Esset speaking in a telephone chat with our news desk maintained that he has tld Nsit Atai people that anybody who takes mbiam to the people, that mbiam won’t live such a person and his or her household. He maintained further that he did not become the chairman of Nsit Atai through mbiam while pledging that his future political ambition is in the hands of God.

On the allegations that he is at cold war with the member representing Nsit Atai state constituency at the House of Assembly Hon Sarah Elijah, the Nsit Atai council boss maintained that the House of Assembly member was elected to serve Nsit Atai for four years and that he was elected to support her. He stated that if there is any war between the House of Assembly member and the council chairman that is definitely not in Nsit Atai Local Government Area.

Mark Esset however re-echoed that anybody that brings mbiam to Nsit Atai will incur the wrath of God upon himself or herself and his or her family.
