2015 Guber: IKAFUE preaches equity

A socio-political group known as Ikot Abasi Forum for Unity and Equality (IKAFUE) has called on the people of Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency to continue to rally round the State Governor, Chief Dr. Godwill Obot Akpabio to ensure the emergence of a governorship candidate for the 2015 election from Ikot Abasi Local Government Area.

The group said that as a performing Governor, Chief Akpabio is justified to choose his successor whom he believes will follow his footsteps in governance and protect the legacy he will leave behind for the benefit of all.

The forum was reacting to the communiqué issued by Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency after its enlarged meeting held at Ikot Abasi Local Government Council Hall at the weekend.

In the communiqué, the people of Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency, comprising Ikot Abasi, Mkpat Enin and Eastern Obolo Local Government Areas, urged Governor Akpabio to choose a candidate for next year’s governorship election from Ikot Abasi as other sections in Eket Senatorial Districts had been settled with top political posts, except Ikot Abasi in the interest of fair play, peace and stability.

In a release made available to newsmen yesterday, the group hailed the Communiqué and described it as a “perfect sharing formula which is bound to stabilize the polity in the Federal Constituency.”

According to IKAFUE, if the governorship position goes to Ikot Abasi, the House of Representatives to Mkpat Enin and the State House of Assembly remains in Eastern Obolo, political stability would surely be established in the constituency and a sense of belonging created among the people.

The forum commended Governor Akpabio for his uncommon transformation across the state and his abiding love for Ikot Abasi as demonstrated in his choice of two ESx-deputy governors from Ikot Abasi since he assumed power and the provision of good roads and other essential amenities for the area.
The group then urged the people of Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency to continue to remain focused and united in their common quest for lasting political stability in the area.

The release was jointly signed by the group’s President, Chief John Nda and the Secretary, Mr. George Akpan.
