Info boss applauds Akpabio’s capital allocation policy

The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr Aniekan Umanah, has applauded the new financial regime adopted by the Akpabio-led administration, in consistently allocating 80% to Capital expenditure in her annual budgetary outlay.

Speaking recently in Uyo, the State Capital, the Information boss said, the trail-blazing achievements recorded by Governor Godswill Akpabio, is due to the 80:20 capital, recurrent expenditure ratio adopted by Government in the past 6 years

Interacting with the Chairman and members of the Education Advisory Board of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, Mr Aniekan Umanah reiterated that, it needed a sound financial discipline and will, to cut down on the excesses of Recurrent expenditure and plough resources into Capital expenditure for execution of numerous high profile projects.

He listed the four flyovers executed in the State within six years of the Akpabio administration, as an uncommon feat that has not been achieved by any other Government so far in Nigeria, adding that, “this is in addition to other gigantic projects like the Ibom Tropicana complex, the Ibom International Sports Stadium and a fifth Flyover currently under construction, among others.”

The Information Commissioner acknowledged that, one of the greatest legacies of the Governor Godswill Akpabio’s Government, is the Free and Compulsory Education progrsmme, in which basic education is acquired at no cost, from the Primary to the Senior Secondary School level, irrespective of a child’s State of origin and expressed appreciation to the leadership of NIPR for establishing a Study centre in the State 

Emphasizing the importance of education in human capital development, he  added that the present administration accords priority to training and is committed to providing the enabling environment and support for any meaningful venture in the education sector.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Education Advisory Board of NIPR, Dr Rotimi Oladele, said Akwa Ibom State was chosen for the Study centre of the Institute because “the State has become a destination for notable groups and organizations with viable ventures and businesses.”

He congratulated the Akpabio administration for the uncommon transformation of Akwa Ibom, which he noted, had boosted the image of the people of the State and expressed appreciation of the leadership of NIPR to the State Government for the assistance and support so far extended to the body.

 Highlight of the event, was the presentation of a Portable Amplification Sound System to the Institution for use by the State Chapter of NIPR as well as some Publications produced by the State Ministry of Information and Communications, including the Silver Jubilee compendium on Akwa Ibom State and Investment Potentials of Akwa Ibom State, among others.
