The Personal Assistant to the Akwa Ibom State Deputy Governor on Mobilization and General Duties, Mrs. Imeofon Udoh, has expressed satisfaction with the developmental strides of the incumbent Chairman of Mkpat Enin Local Government Council, Mr. Ephraim Akpan, especially in healthcare delivery, youth and women empowerment programmes.
Speaking with journalists recently at Government House, Uyo, shortly after a stakeholders meeting, Mrs. Udoh, who is also the Mkpat Enin Chapter President of National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) and Secretary General of Uyio Iban Mkpat Enin, a foremost women socio-political group in the area, described Mr. Akpan as a Chairman per excellent.
The woman leader said Mr. Akpan’s outstanding performance within one year in office was highly commendable for providing a medical diagnostic centre that is operational, construction of Ikot Aba-Minya dual carriage Bridge, Rehabilitation of 92 Hand-Pumps across Mkpat Enin, donation of vehicles to council officials, grading of about 150 km Rural Roads, free eye test/surgery to about 500 indigenes and in the provision of infrastructures across the local government area, stressing that the action has further rekindled the people’s hope on government and also tightened the bond of unity among the people.
Describing the Council boss as a faithful and visionary leader, Mrs. Udoh said the present administration has provided purposeful leadership and dividends of good governance for which the Mkpat Enin people were greatly proud to identify with.
“In the past, democratic dividends were not evenly distributed among the four clans and villages in the local government area. But since the advent of Honourable Ephraim Akpan’s administration, Mkpat Enin has benefitted immensely from 19 projects in just one year,” she said.
Stressing that the huge investment by Mr. Akpan’s government in human capital development has recorded progress, saying: “The visible projects in the Council and the number of youths that would be developed through the establishment of International Class Centre for Technological Transfer shows that government can work and it is working.” She expressed profound gratitude of the women and people of Mkpat Enin to the Council boss.
While appealing to the local government council for its continuous support of women and youths and infrastructural development of the area, Mrs. Udoh promised that that the women of Mkpat Enin would do everything in their capacity to support, protect, maintain and secure the projects which the Council boss has established and the many more that will follow before the end of his administration.
The Deputy Governor’s aide said the achievements would not have been possible but for the visionary and exemplary leadership as shown by the State Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio.
She charged the Council boss to continue to emulate the State Governor for more democratic dividends to the people of the local government area.
