How Golden Eaglets defeated A’Ibom selected …Emmanuel Amunike, Nduka Ukbade speak- BY EMMANUEL AKPAN

In preparation to keep the team fit for the upcoming FIFA under 17 world cup that is to hold in United Arab Emirates on October, Golden Eaglets team were in Akwa Ibom State to play a friendly match against Akwa Ibom selected team last week. The match ended 0-1 in favour of the national side who had the curtain raiser in the early part of the first half.

Although the Uyo stadium was not in a very good condition because of the heavy down pour, the Golden Eaglets struggled and managed to score Akwa Ibom Selected side which was made up of of reserve Akwa United players and other Uyo based football clubs players.
Chatting with pressmen shortly after the match, the assistant coach of the Golden Eaglets, Emmanuel Amunike said the friendly match was necessary in order to strengthen his boys and also to give Akwa Ibom talented players the opportunity to represent Nigeria by proving themselves as the final 35 – man list is yet to be submitted to FIFA.

Another assistant coach, Nduka Ukbade who also spoke congratulated the National side on their victory even as he promised Akwa Ibom in particular and Nigeria in general that the team will work hard to bring the FIFA under 17 trophy back to Nigeria.
