2015: Ika people wants Assembly seat * We want to avoid bad history - IKA VOICE

The people of Ika Local Government Area say they will ensure that come 2015 one of them emerges as the Assemblyman that will represent Ika/ Etim Ekpo State Constituency at the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.

Under the aegis of Ika Voice, the people recalled that in 2007 both the House of Representatives and the House of Assembly slots were zoned to it. The body observed that the political elders of Ika and their Etim Ekpo counterpart had met and negotiated that the House of Representatives be taken by Ika while the House of Assembly seat be occupied by Etim Ekpo.

This argument was readily accepted by the people of Ika Local Government Area and that led to Obongemem Ekperikpe Ekpo being supported to emerge the House of Representative member for Abak/Ika/Etim Ekpo Federal Constituency and Engr. Akanimo Edet from Etim Ekpo was supported to emerge the representative of Ika/Etim Ekpo State Constituency at the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.

Ika Voice maintained that by 2019, Ika may lose out again in the politics of the legislative leadership for the area if they don’t produce the next House of Assembly member for the area. The body also argued that it is only a fulfillment of natural justice, fairness, equity and not sentiments that an Ika person continue from 2015 in the next Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.
