Please stay action: Don't impeach the Leader, Deputy Etinan Council Chairman begs legislators

Isantim kenneth Okon, Council Chairman
Chairman of Etinan Local Government Area Isantim Kenneth Okon has waded into the imminent crises that was threatening the legislative arm of the Local Government Area following what not less than nine councilors described as the impeachable offences committed by the Leader Hon Item Etuk and Deputy Inemesit Itina.
A political warfare was imminent in the legislative council of Etinan Local Government Area following what the aggrieved Councilors of the area described as the selfishness, greediness and financial recklessness and the dubious attitude of their leader and Deputy Hon. Item Etuk and Hon. Inemesit Itina respectively.

Hon. Item Etuk, House Leader
The nine councilors had earlier threatened to impeach the leader and his deputy last weekend. While addressing newsmen in a press conference, the aggrieved councilors maintained that, contrary to the information planted by their leader and deputy on their promise to back Isantim Kenneth Okon for the 2015 Etinan state constituency race, that they never did so. The councilors in a ten paragraph disclaimer had stated that there was no time the legislators met to discuss the 2015 political fate of the state constituency and described the publications which had earlier alleged that they have promised to do everything humanly possible to ensure that the council boss Isantim Kenneth Okon emerges the next House of Assembly member for the constituency as the figment of the imagination of the leader and his deputy.
Inemesit Itina, Deputy House Leader
The aggrieved legislators while extolling the qualities of the Etinan council boss Isantim Kenneth Okon maintained that the decision of the leader and the deputy leader Hon. Item Etuk and Inemesit Itina to go to press with such story is a calculated attempt they have employed to dupe the council chairman whom they described as a hardworking council boss.

The councilor’s insistence on impeaching the Leader and his Deputy had however caused the council chairman Isantim Kenneth Okon to step into the imminent crises and appeal for calm. Kenneth Okon had however distanced himself from the publications saying he never authorized its usage. Isantim Kenneth Okon popularly known as Wayas stated this when he had a closed door meeting with the councilors over the weekend.

Our reporter gathered that the council chairman had informed the councilors that he didn’t authorize the Leader and Deputy leader to go to press with the misleading information that the councilors have vowed to do everything possible to ensure that he succeeds Sam Ikom as the next House of Assembly member. Isantim Kenneth Okon is said to have informed that he did not authorize the publication that the councilors will do everything to ensure that he wins the Etinan State constituency seat come 2015.

The aggrieved Councilors who are about nine in numbers are said to have told the council boss that they do not have anything against him and whether he has an interest to proceed to the House of Assembly by 2015 or not but that their grievances stem from the fact that the leader and Deputy Hon. Item Etuk and Inemesit Itina proceeded to misrepresent them at the press. The councilors maintained to the chairman that during last plenary of Etinan legislative council, the legislators never discussed the political fate and future of Etinan State constituency as regards 2015 and that with the decision of the leader and his Deputy giving contrary information to the press, they should resign or will be impeached.

Isantim Kenneth Okon is said to have told councilors not to see the action of the leader and Deputy Item Etuk and Inemesit Itina respectively of getting his backing, he is alleged to have denied in totality the action of the leader and Deputy. Meanwhile the Etinan lawmakers are said to have insisted on the resignation of the Leader and Deputy with an argument that they may one day wake-up to read stories not emanating from them. The councilors had used that opportunity to advise the council chairman Obong keneth Okon that he should be wary of the likes of Item Etuk and Inemsit Itina.

Sensing that the mood in the legislative council was high, Kenneth Okon is said to have begged the councilors against proceeding on an impeachment of the leader. An aide to the Chairman said the meeting between the councilors and his boss was to discuss the progress of Etinan Local Government Area. Our source said the chairman had to intervene in the imminent crises so that all factions will have their issues settled.
