Following
the recent riot act read by the Governor Godswill Akpabio that every Political
appointee in His cabinet nurturing political ambition against the 2015 general
elections should resign before the end of September, 2013, the Labour party has
called on the state Chief Executive to resign in view of his Senate ambition
come 2015.
The state chairman of
the party comrade Etim Stern stated this recently, while fielding questions
from newsmen shortly after his arrival from Abuja where he served as one of the
members in the screening committee of the Labour Party governorship aspirants
in the upcoming 16 November 2013 Governorship election in Anambra state, which
also saw the emergence of Chief Ifeanyi Ubah as the party flag bearer.
He said Governor
Akpabio should lead by example by honourably resigning before the September
ending deadline. He explained further that it will amount to injustice and
unfair treatment if Governor Akpabio should be given the senate position of of
Ikot Ekpene senatorial district as the zoning principle has made it clear that
it is the turn of Abak Federal Constituency which has never produced a senator,
right from the creation of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, he wondered why
Akpabio who claims to be a product and an apostle of joining could be working
to spoil the longstanding zoning formular in Ikot Ekpene senatorial district.
The party boss further
noted that at the appropriate time Labour Party will file her candidate that
will wrestle power with the ruling party, reiterating that Governor Akpabio is
protecting the interest of the PDP members as opposition parties has not been
carried along by this government.
Mr. Stern equally
joined well meaning Nigerians to congratulate Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo
State on his Victory by the Apex Court describing it as victory for democracy.
He also hailed the courage of some PDP and ACN representatives, Senators and
State House of Assembly members in Ogun State decamping to LP, describing it as
a right step in the right direction while stressing the assurance by his party
to take over government come 2015, he admonished his members to remain
committed and resolute.
