Oron Union Youths wing honours Gov Emmanuel with Excellence Award

In view of his outstanding dexterity in governance, the youths of Oro Nation under the Umbrella of Oron Union Youth wing have honored Governor Udom Emmanuel of AkwaIbom Statewith an Excellence Award.

The honour was conferred on Governor Udom Emmanuel during the 2019 Oro International Youth Summit held at Oro Civil Center with the theme: Effects of Electoral violence on youth Development.

Governor Emmanuel who was ably represented by the State Commissioner for Transport and Petroleum Resources, Rt. Hon. Orman Esincommended the youths of Oro Nation for honoring him, describing the award as a clear acknowledgement of numerous achievements of the present administration.

The Governor who disclosed that he has two term plans for the State and particularly Oro Nation, stated that processes were underway to upgrade the Maritime Academy of Nigeria to a degree-awarding institution.

Governor Emmanuel hinted that the appointment of an Oro son into the State Executive Council as Secretary to the State Government was a demonstration of love for the Oro People assuring the Oronians of better days ahead with him on the saddle till 2023.


The fourth democratically elected Governor of AkwaIbom State who spoke through an illustrious Oro Son who is in charge of the Ministry of Transport and Petroleum Resources, Rt. Hon. OrmanEsin, told the Oro Youths to train themselves and acquire requisite operational knowledge to function in the long awaitedIbom Deep Seaport, which he said will open up coastal area and by extension, the Oro Nation, for vast economic opulence and emancipation.

He emphasized the need for them to canvass and mobilize for the PDP in the forthcoming general elections across the Country.

Governor Udom Emmanuel who drummed up support for his re-election to enable him deliver more dividends of democracy to the people even at the grassroots also stressed the need for all Nigerians to rise up in accord and support the PDP Presidential Candidate,AtikuAbubakar, whom he explained is versed with vast ability to drive the nation’s economy to prosperity.

Earlier, the President General of Oro Union, Chief (Mrs) Janet Amba, said Oro Union under her leadership is setting up agenda to repositionthe organization and to drive massive development and lofty programs that will stand the taste of time for the good of the people.

The PG maintained that since coming on board, she and her cabinet members have been working assiduously towards attractingmeaningful  developmentto Oro nation.

Chief Mrs. Amba lauded the Governor, Udom Emmanuel for massive roads construction as well as interventions in Oro while engendering support for AtikuAbubakar asPresident of Nigeria andGovernor Udom Emmanuel as Governor of AkwaIbom State until 2023 as well as other PDP Candidates.

In a welcome address presented by the international president of Oro Union Youth Wing, Ulap Chris Ebiefieat the summit, he thanked Chief (Mrs.) Janet Amba, president General of the Union for her purposeful and visionaryleadership and the Central Executive Committee for giving her the much needed support which has culminated and crystalized into the reconstitution of the Union’s Youth wing, even as he implored God’s guidance to enable them pilot the group’s affairs smoothly.

Ulap Chris Ebiefie equally expressed deep appreciation to the performing governor of AkwaIbom State, Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel for his irrevocable commitment to partner Oro Youths towards attaining excellence, describing him as a performer.

He acknowledged the unprecedented infrastructural development embarked upon by His Excellence Governor Udom Emmanuel in Oro Nation, saying this has enabled the youth wing to name him the Most Friendly AkwaIbom State governor to Oro Nation.

The Oro Union Youth Wing International President enumerated the projects earmarked upon in the enclave to include asphalting ofOkopedi- Uya Oro Road, Construction of Oron Road – Oro Beach, Construction of UdungUko – Edikor Road, Ekim – EyoAbasi Road, AnwanaEsin Road, amongst numerous others.

He however, like Oliver Twist, implored the State helmsman to establish an ICT Centre in Oro Civic Centre, ensure the completion of a super Highway to Ibaka, provide a Transmitting Station in Oro to solve the problem of perennial poor power supply and to make for more Oro Sons and daughters to be included in his Executive Council.

Other requests were: the completion of the Ahta Palace within the Civic Centre Complex and the completion of all ongoing State projects in Oro Nation.

The Youth leader in the same vain extended his appreciation to the speaking speaker of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke, describing him as a youth friendly personality whose support to the group is unquantifiable.

A keynote address presented by Dr. Kubra Uya, president of Uyo Club, on the theme:‘Harnessing Economic Opportunities in Oro Nation for Youths development. Issues and perspectives,’ harped on the need for young people to be creative and focused even as they direct their energies to fruitful ventures for optimal benefits, While Ambassador Nkoyo Toyo who spoke on “Effects of Electoral Violence on Youths Developments” urged youths to eschew violence, thuggery and the like, during election.”
