Government to award contract for renovation of Ibeno General Hospital

Akwa Ibom State Governor and PDP gubernatorial standard bearer for the forthcoming elections, Deacon Udom Emmanuel has assured indigenes of Ibeno of the renovation of the Ibeno General Hospital, noting that before 2nd of March, he will award contract for the project.

Gov. Udom gave the assurance on Wednesday during his campaign rally at  Ibeno Local Government Secretariat, where his campaign team together with the indigenes of Ibeno converged.

The governor, who expressed great concern over the poor state of the hospital and the nuisance it turn  for the people, stated he will ensure that the best ultra modern medical facilities are fixed in the hospital in order to give it a new phase and promote standard health delivery.

Gov. Udom, who also told the people convincingly that he will rewrite the conventional story about their age long negligence in the plans of government and put the area in the world map, guaranteed the people that it is only his party that will instruct and command the relocation of the Department of Petroleum Resources based in Lagos to Akwa Ibom State, stressing, “DPR has no business in Lagos. DPR has business in Akwa Ibom State.”


He urged the indigenes to be rest assured that the Qua Iboe Power Plant in Ibeno, which seemed like a day dream,  will come into reality through his administration.

 On his employment plans for the youths, the financial expert explained that there will be massive employment for the youths immediately the PDP government takes control of the Mobil Company.

While he maintained that the indigenes will make the greatest beneficiary of the Ibom deep seaport, which he further explained that the investors are already on ground and the only thing left is Federal Executive Council approval, Gov. Udom solicited partnership with the people for quality and huge development of the area.

Thanking the people for their support so far, the Director General of the Divine Mandate Campaign, Air Commodore, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga said, “I come with a testament of hope. Ibeno shall be free. The hope is that there is someone here to restore hope and love to you.” 

The Former Military Governor, who mentioned earlier the strides of the governor in the area, reminded the people that it was not so in the past as the people where subjected to suffering without any basic amenity to boast of.

He advised the students, who are currently on at home because of ASUU strike, the women, youths and men to support the PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku and Governor Udom to emerge, promising that they will get the country and it’s economy working again.

The Council Boss, Rt. Hon. Ifum Henry, reaffirmed landslide victory for the governor, saying, “ it will be cliché for me to say that we have opposition. There is no opposition in Ibeno. We have PDP alone. In our bedroom, parlour and kitchen, all you will find is PDP.”

In his speech, the PDP Chapter chairman, Hon. Emma Ibok pointing to the numerous internal road constructions initiated by the governor, a stride he maintained was difficult for the last administration to achieve, and then to the appointment of their eminent sons and daughters into well placed positions in government, said that, “ Ibeno has a multitude of reasons to support the governor.

 Going by the records, he noted that the area since 1999 has played PDP and has never known many other party. He told the governor that the unprecedented crowd he witnessed in the rally, will invade their different polling units to vote for him and other candidates of the party. 

The Chapter Youth Leader, Comr. Victor Adikpo assured the governor that all the youths of Ibeno will vote him and stand to defend their votes.

He thanked the governor for the employment he has provided for the youths and the provision of steady electricity in the area.

Standing in for women, the Chapter women leader,  Mrs Naomi Peter pledged that all and sundry will vote for the party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Governor Udom together with everyone certified to represent the party in the next four years.

 Mrs Peter pleaded for the skill acquisition center in the area which is nonfunctional to be completed so as to enable the women, whom she also explained are ready to work, have something doing.  She further requested for the creation of job opportunities for the women in order for them to be financially independent.

Hon. Patrick Ifon, the PDP House of Reps. candidate for Eket Federal Constituency, described the governor as a good brand, adding that the governor had  distinguished himself between one who can be addressed as a learner and the other, a driver. 

Continuing, he said, “Today, We know that you are a driver, a driver of all the good roads and industries in this constituency.”

On her part, the PDP candidate for the Eket Senatorial District seat, Dr.(Mrs) Akon Eyakenyi asserted, “For what you Gov.Udom has done that eyes have seen and for what you will do for us,  Ibeno will vote PDP all the way.”  She promised the people quality representation when she emerges victoriously.
