Book on Nigerian Civil War for launch in Uyo

A book titled, Biafra War Re visited, authored by a retired General of the Nigerian Army, Okon Okon is billed for public presentation today (Tuesday) in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.

The event, which is expected to be attended by the military and the political classes as well as the academic and the general public, will be chaired by General Anthony Etukudoh, who had once served as Director General of the Standard Organisation of Nigeria, SON.

According to a statement endorsed by Mr Udeme Uyoata, who oversees publicity for the event, the author, who is also a scholar of International Politics and Strategic Studies, “attempts to argue on the logic of war since the dawn of history, surmising it as a recurrent occurrence in the conduct of disputes between geo-political entities”.

The release, a copy of which was obtained by our corespondent, also described the book as “a historical recollection of events that led to, and the course of, the Nigerian-Biafra War, which lasted from July 1967 to January 1970”.

The statement also mentioned that the book is “a prĂ©cis of the history of Nigeria that is essential to Nigerians in that the war remains a major catalyst in the trajectory of Nigeria’s life.”
