In continuous commitment of the Akwa Ibom State Government  to improve the quality and affordability of  education in the State, the Governor, Deacon Udom Emmanuel has announced plans by the State Government to takeover some community schools in Eastern Obolo Local Government Area.

Gov. Udom made the announcement on Thursday at St. Silas Primary School, Okoroete, Eastern Obolo Local Government Area, when his campaign team visited the area.

“I have been made to understand that there is a lot of community schools in Eastern Obolo. In order to enjoy the free and qualitative education, we will look for community schools with good attendance so that we could take over as Government, where we will provide free education and also pay WAEC fees for the students of Eastern Obolo, “ he said.

The Governor, who thanked the heaving audience for their huge turnout, addressed with ardent concern the health sector of the area when he lamented over the stress faced by the women living across the riverine community during delivery, promising government’s intervention in order to reduce mortality rate menace to the barest minimum.

He continued, “For the Cottage Hospital here, I have heard the fence has even collasped. I want to reassure you that what needs to be fixed in that hospital will be fixed.”

While the PDP gubernatorial standard bearer promised the  youths of the area that he will create more employments for them in his second term and ensure they stand independently, he told the indigenes, “I want to reassure that we have many untapped wealth, the only party that will ensure NNPC uncapped those wealth is PDP.”

Governor Udom recounted, “We awarded a contract for the Okoroete road but the moment they heard we’ve done that, they relocated their equipments to the road and we kept quiet so you all could see who truly they are. Today, they’ve abandoned the road and their nakedness have been shown to us.

Because PDP cares, today, we’ve mobilized Nigerpet to undergo that road construction and in few months, you all will be driving in an Express Okoroete road”

Also speaking, the Former Military Governor of the State, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga thanked the people for standing for the truth and doing what is right, further applauding the indigenes for their remarkable consistency.

Harping on education sector, the Director General of the Divine Mandate Campaign,  who assured the students that the PDP will bring a government that understands and appreciate education, he told the students, “You will not be saying Great Nigerian Students in the house. You will not stay at home to get scholarship and bursary.

ASUU strike must end. If you want to destroy a country, the first thing you destroy is education.”

He advised the people to vote for the PDP Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who, he explained, understands their plight and the Governor who, he also noted, has ensured peace and development in the area and will continue to bring more development.

On their support for the party, Hon. Victoria Tallick, the Executive Chairman of Eastern Obolo, stated, “The people of Eastern Obolo reaffirms that what we did in 2015, we will do again in 2019. It will be 5/5.”

She further said the people have nothing against the governor because he has delivered on his promises for the area.

In the same vein, the Chapter Chairman, Mr. Victor Oromene, restated that the area is absolutely PDP and the people are strongly behind the party and all its candidate.

On behalf of the youths, Engr. Festus Sunday, while appreciating the governor for rooting out poverty and providing food on the table for the youths, reiterated, “Our votes will be delivered hundred percent and we will not only deliver our votes, we will protect our votes. We are aware that some people are recruiting federal might but before federal might, was the people’s might and the traditional might. We will resist them.”

He solicited the governor, “Since the inception of  this Local Government, no one has served in the board of the NDDC. In your second term in office, any appointment earmarked for the Akwa Ibom, should be given to the people of Eastern Obolo.”

Mrs Peace, speaking on behalf of the women,  lauded the governor for the #200, 000 interest free loan given to the women to invest and start up their businesses.

While she promised that the  women are ready to support and vote for all PDP candidates, the woman leader pointed out, “The first problem we have is our riverine areas and it is very hard for us to cross to the Local Government Headquarters. I want you(Gov. Udom) to help the women by giving us boats and buses so that we will also be able to travel to Uyo to and fro.”
