Akwa Ibom State Governor, Deacon Udom Emmanuel on Monday promised the immediate construction of the abandoned and poor Itu -Mbonuso road situated in Ini Local Government Area at the declaration of the 2019 gubernatorial result.

Udom made the announcement in Ini Local Government Area during his campaign rally which held at the Local Government Secretariat Ground, Odoro Ikpe.

”On declaration of results, rain or no rain, we will commence the construction of Itu-Mbonuso road. I do not mean swearing - in but as soon as the result is declared. I am sure by Sunday 3rd of March the results must have been declared. By Monday, I will mobilize contractors to start work,” he assured.

The governor, who gave a short reference to his developmental strides in the area since his assumption of office in 2015, pointed out that the indigenes had been in total darkness for seven years and their roads rendered impassable due to its sorry state and the failure of the last administration to deliver on its promises to the area.

He stressed that his administration came on board and transformed the lives and situation of the people to what they can proudly boast of today, explaining that his administration has birthed light to the area, constructed numerous roads, took over community schools and brought in the rice plantation to the area.

While soliciting for votes against his re-election on the 2nd of March, he advised the people to support and vote for PDP, assuring that the  PDP is the only party that will bring the dividends of democracy to the people and give great priority to their interest.

In his address, the Executive Chairman of the area, Hon. Isreal  Idaisin said in time past there were no access roads for people to ply through and patronize their food stuffs, praising the governor for his divine intervention in changing the impoverished condition of the people.

On that note, he assured that the people are resolute in their stance for the governor to do a second term as well as their support for all other candidates of the party, warning the electoral umpire against attempts to rig the forthcoming elections and vowed that rigging will never be possible in Ini.

While he challenged those in doubt of the rice plantation in Ini Local Government to take a visit to the site, he accused the previous government for siphoning the money budgeted for road constructions in the area. He further lauded the governor for stepping in to construct the roads and ensuring it’s completion during his tenure.

Also speaking the Chapter Chairman the area, Hon. Emmanuel Umah, who expressed the  people’s satisfaction over his leadership style which, he explained has impacted on the lives of all and sundry in the area, reaffirmed the support and votes of the people for the party during the February and March polls.

Lamenting the failed promises of the last administration, he thanked the governor for his unprecedented strides in terms of infrastructural facelifts and human capital development, and . He said, “We will prove to the world that Ini is PDP.”

Dr. Glory Edet, on behalf of the women, thanked the government for taking over the community schools, saying it has afforded the students free and qualitative education.

She further maintained that the women are set to go to polls come 16th of February and 2nd of February to vote in the PDP government both at the center and in the State.

Addressing the governorship rotation formular which proscribes 8 years for each Senatorial District on the seat of power, Rt. Hon. Ukata s. Akpan, on behalf of the elders, maintained that the conventional tenure of eight years can never be shortchanged to four years.

He told the governor that the elders and the entire people of Ini will continue to support him because of the good works in the area and  the peace enjoyed by Akwa Ibomites.

Assuring the governor of delivering  over 57,000 votes during the elections, on behalf of the youths, Mr. Ekomobong Iseh, stated, “We are here to thank you and give you assurance that on February and March we will support and vote for you.
