Labour Party has not endorse Ekere - State Chairman
The State Chairman of Labour Party, Akwa Ibom State Comrade Ukeme Kongkor has declared as a baronial lie a statement fabricated by one Elder Utip Etiebiet, who he described a well known imposter in the state and published on the Friday 22nd February, 2019 edition of ‘The Eye Newspaper’ claiming that Labour Party has endorse the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
Comrade Kongkor who made this statement in a press release made available to newsmen in the state, stated that ordinarily, he would not have liked to join issues with Elder Utip Etiebiet, the former state chairman of the party considering the issue surrounding his unfortunate sack from the party in the state but this, according to him, became necessary considering the misleading nature of the message contained in the said report.
He stated unequivocally that the charade performed by Elder Etiebiet and his cohorts do not in anyway, reflect the position of Labour Party in Akwa Ibom State, that labour party has not endorse the candidature of Obong Nsima Ekere, the APC candidate in the March 2019 gubernatorial election in the state and that Elder Etiebiet is an imposter who was shown the exit route of the party due anti-party activities such as this.
According to him, Elder Utip Etiebiet was relieved of his duties as the state chairman of the party in the state by a letter dated 4th July 2018 and signed by the National Chairman of the party Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdusalami as such, do not have the right to convene a meeting, preside over a meeting, or make decisions on behalf of the Labour Party in the state.
He explained that following the sack letter issued by the National Chairman of the party, Elder Etiebiet was ordered by security operatives in the state on Friday, 19th July 2018 in Uyo to stop pararding himself as the chairman of the party and hand over all properties belonging to the party to him, the new and legitimate State Chairman of the party. This, according to him, Elder Etiebiet did accordingly except for the state Secretariat of the party which he claimed was paid for with his personal money and as such, is his personal property.
Comrade Kongkor recalled that Elder Utip Etiebiet was humiliated, thrown out and lock out of the National Secretariat of the party in Abuja on monday, 18th July 2018 during his visit to lobby his reinstatement as the state chairman of the party. He also recalled that the Independent National Electoral commission (INEC) state Headquarters, Uyo, on the 24th July 2018, through the Head of ETM Mr Iwang Inyang duly congratulated and invited him to receive a letter of invitation for INEC/political party Stakeholders meeting which held on August 2018 at Ibom Hall, Uyo. According to him, Mr Iwang Inyang handed him the invitation sequel to a letter sent from the National Headquarters of INEC introducing him as the state chairman of the party to the state Headquarters of INEC, Uyo.
He alleged that Mr Etiebiet is nothing but ‘a political jobber without a party’ who was unceremoniously sacked from his office due to anti-party activities and personal misconduct, has been parading himself as the state chairman of his party even when he was ordered by law enforcement agents in the state against doing so.
while warning the general public to refrain from carrying out any business in the name of Labour Party with Elder Etiebiet, Comrade Koongkor used the opportunity to ask Etiebiet to steer clear of all activities of Labour Party and stop misinforming the public or parading himself as the state chairman of the party.
