The desperate moves by Nsima Ekere to emerge governor of Akwa Ibom State has landed him in the hands of internet fraudsters who have defrauded him of over 500 million naira with a promise to hack the INEC website and push votes in his favour.

THE INK learnt that different groups of persons, mostly young men in their early and late thirties and forties respectively, have been meeting with Ekere on different occasions and have all promised to hack the website of INEC and swing votes his way.

While our source did not reveal who introduced the hackers to the former deputy governor, it is believed that it must have been done by some aides close to Nsima Ekere who, we gathered, are equally working round the clock to manipulate the polls in favour of their principal.

Now, narrate the story of how hackers and internet marauders van sweet tongue people into accepting their plot. It could be recalled that in 2015, the same calibre of persons had reportedly met Godswill Akpabio with similar deal where it was learnt that the then governor had parted with over three hundred and fifty million naira for the job.

But the deal, as events later proved, was unsuccessful. Investigation by our repoeter revealed that the hackers have so far milked Nsima Ekere dry.

A source close to the immediate past NDDC MD, when contacted, said he wasn’t aware of his boss being milked dry, but he admitted that some persons have been recruited for the deal.

Former governor of the state, Senator Godswill Akpabio, is said to be in the know of this plot by the hackers having fallen prey to them in his time, is maintaining a loud silence over the deal The former Senate Minority Leader, we learnt, wants Nsima to spend a fortune and then fail the forthcoming elections.

This, multiple sources say, is unconnected with Akpabio’s plot to ensure that he drains the pockets of major politicians of Ibibio extraction so he could be the only one around whom everything revolves.

With the much anticipated governorship election barely few weeks aware, it remains to be seen how Nsima Ekere who was recently sacked as MD of NDDC by President Muhammadu Buhari, will come to terms with the millions he has been fleeced of by internet fraudsters.
