2019: OBA assures Udom of victory

The senator representing Akwa Ibom North East (Uyo) Senatorial District, Obong Bassey Albert(a.k.a OBA), on Saturday gave his words and core assurance on the gubernatorial bid of Governor Udom Emmanuel. “I swear to God, you’ve won the election,” he assured.

OBA, who spoke with considerable vocal authority at the St. Patrick’s Primary School, Four Towns in Uyo when Governor Udom and his campaign team moved to the area, further assured the governor that no one can stop his return to the Hilltop Mansion.

The PDP candidate for Uyo Senatorial District, standing his grounds on Gov. Udom’s victory declared that on no occasion, again, in the history of the State will individual(s) conspire and determine the fate of the State.

He added that God will establish the political autonomy of the State against one man’s dictatorial dictate and will through Governor Udom’s landslide victory at the March poll.

While the senator stressed that the opposition will bury their faces in shame after the announcement of results, he briefed the people on the sack of Obong Nsima Ekere, who is the immediate past MD of the NDDC, concurring that Ekere together with his entire board of executives was sacked by the President for engaging in fraudulent activities.


The Director General of the Divine Mandate Campaign, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga, who also addressed Uyo people, recounted the ruinous events that occurred in the State when Senator Akpabio was governor. He explained on how people were murdered in broad day, how indigenes were kidnapped in churches and how the State was an unsafe terrain for humans.

He thanked God, today, the story has changed, noting that all those evil perpetrators have defected and have joined what he described as the assembly of demons.

The Former Military Governor urged the people to vote for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar,  Gov. Udom and all other candidates of the party, adding that with their votes for PDP, the nation and state can only get better.

Continuing the narrative on Akpabio’s governorship regime, the PDP candidate for Uyo Federal Constituency, Engr. Micheal Enyong(a.k.a Baba Ntan) lamented that even Sen. James Udoedehge, who today has ignorantly pitched his tent with the self-centered cabal, was humiliated and tried in boxer pants and bathroom slippers by Senator Akpabio.

He said, “ Your Excellency, the administration before you, our people were kidnapped. They were murdered. They were abducted.

“Your Excellency, one of our beloved son, Senator James Udoedehge was humiliated and tried in a boxer pants and bathroom slippers by Senator Akpabio. One of our sons Prof. Ekong who was also from this village was tried and jailed. Our son, Joseph Ekong was jailed.

“Your Excellency, my father, a 92-year-old clergy was kidnapped. My brother was kidnapped, my sister-inlaw was kidnapped. My people were kidnapped. Your Excellency, the people of Uyo were humiliated and mocked by God’swill Akpabio to an extent that we were given a ridiculous name, “Oh! Uyo.”
He thanked Gov.Udom for changing the narrative, promising that the youths, women, and elders will support and vote for him.

The Council Boss, Hon.Imoh Okon,  who spoke on three-pronged points; authority, testimonial, and appreciation, assured the governor that Uyo which is the seat of power has reaffirmed support for his gubernatorial bid. He added that with congnizance to Gov. Udom’s  phenomenal strides in Uyo, the indigenes are grateful and will vote PDP.

In their separate speeches, Sir Val Attah, Mr. Ime Uwah and Mrs Unyime Cosmos, on behalf of the elders, youths and women respectively, noted that Uyo is core PDP and the indigenes, who are pleased with the leadership of Governor Udom, will do all in their capacity and even beyond to ensure the governor is returned.

In his response, the governor, Deacon Udom Emmanuel, thanked the people for the assurances and promised to reciprocate their kind gestures by planting more industries, constructing and renovating more hospitals, schools and roads in Uyo when he returns to the Hilltop Mansion.

While he celebrated the successes recorded in the education sector, he said, “Before we took over power, WAEC pass rate in Uyo was 58%. Today, the pass rate in Uyo Local Government alone is 75%.”

Udom promised that the Department of Petroleum Resources will be relocated to the State when the PDP government takes over power at the center. He charged the people to vote for PDP all the way.

Some of the governor’s strides in Uyo include: The construction of Dr Ann Ward Gynecology Block at St Luke’s Hospital, Anua; Rehabilitation of Administrative Block and Ward at St Luke’s Hospital, Anua; Completion of the State Secretariat Annex, Udo Udoma Avenue; Flood control at Nsikak Eduok Avenue; Construction of 2x5MVA, 33/11KV injection substations, Edet Akpan Avenue; Intervention in gully erosion sites at Etim Umana Street, St Luke’s Hospital; IBB Avenue; Face lift given to the Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat Complex with tarred road and paved walk ways from Civil Service Auditorium to Block 5 and adjoining car parks.

“Ongoing construction of high-rise and investment building at the central Business District of the Uyo metropolis; Ongoing construction of 8,500 capacity International Worship centre; Dualization of 25.0km Uyo-Ikot Ekpene Road; Dualization of 20.0km Uyo-Etinan Road (Ikot Oku Ikono); Dualization of the 14.5km Uyo/Airport Junction-Okopedi Okobo Road, Phase 1.

“Construction of the 1.5km Information Drive Road; Construction of 19.317km Anua-Mbak-Ishiet Road; Construction of 5.1km Ewet Housing Extension; Remodelling/Rehabilitation of selected roads, strategic junctions and roundabouts in Uyo metropolis Phase 1; and Construction of 1.3km Ntiedo Udosen Street; Construction of Ikot Akpan Abia-Oboyo Ikot Ita-Enen Nsit Road.”
