Akwapoly Management parleys host communities

The Acting Rector, AkwaIbom State Polytechnic, Dr. Moses Umobong has commended the role played by the leadership of the Polytechnic host communities for the prevailing peace enjoyed in the State  polytechnic in recent times, describing it as a sign of good relationship existing among them.

The commendation was made during a visit to the visit village Councils of IkotOsurua and AtanIkotOkoro in IkotEkpene and EssienUdim respectively by the management of the State Polytechnic as part of the institution’s Corporate Social Responsibilities.

Addressing the village council members, the Ag. Rector, Dr. Moses Umobong applauded the people of the Polytechnic host communities for the love and support shown to the State Polytechnic and the administration of His Excellency, Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel. Dr. Umobong stressed the need for sustenance of the prevailing peace in the area in the interest of the students leaving in their respective neighborhoods. 


He pledged his management commitments to dialogue with the host communities at all times to resolve issues of common interest. The Ag. Rector used the occasion to thank the State Governor, His Excellency, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, for his appointment as the Ag. Rector of the great institution which he said, has given him the opportunity to serve his people and contribute his quota to the development of the State polytechnic. He urged them to be loyal at all times and remain supportive to the lofty policies and programmes of the present administration in the state especially the governor’s industrialization programme to enable him fulfill his goals of making AkwaIbom State an industrial hub in the Gulf of Guinea.

Responding on behalf of the village council, the villagehead ofIkotOsurua, Chief Lawrence Francis Umoh, thanked the Ag.Rector for the visit, describing him as a great leader and loving son full of wisdom and integrity. The royal father appreciatedDr. Umobong and his management team for the respect accorded them and promised to work with the new Rectorfor the overall development of the Polytechnic and the state in general.

Also speaking, the village head of AtanIkotOkoro, Chief Basil Akpanadiaha described the Ag. Rector as a civilized leader who understands community relationship strategies. He promised to mobilize his people in support of the administration of Dr. Umobong to ensure sustenance of the prevailing peace in the State Polytechnic. The royal fathers prayed fervently for the Ag. Rector and his management team for God’s guidance in the discharge of their academic duties.

Several personalities who accompanied the Rector include, members of the management, the internal auditor, Mr. Ernest Udo, lecturers and a host of others.
