The management of Uyo City Polytechnic,
a private polytechnic based in Nduetong Oku, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State has
presented its licence to operate as a private polytechnic in Nigeria to
staff and students of the Institution.
Doing the presentation in his office, the Administrator, Elder Enobong Etukudoh, on behalf of the Board of Proprietors said the exercise was very necessary in view of the publication on page 51 of the Daily Sun of Monday, May 11, 2015 and on page six of The Nation on Tuesday, May 12, 2015.
The Nation had quoted the Executive Secretary of National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Dr. Manzuid Kazaure as saying that, “An investigating team has been dispatched to Uyo, Akwa Ibom State to probe an illegal institution that has been operating there”.
The media report which has provoked a lot of phone calls from our various concerned public members, therefore, prompted the presentation which, according to Elder Etukudoh, was to clarify that the said illegal institution was not Uyo City Polytechnic, a fully licensed and law-abiding corporate citizen of Nigeria.
Exuding confidence, Elder Etukudoh used the opportunity to urge the public, students and parents not to entertain any fears which the said publication might have generated, adding that, as a responsible institution with competent resource persons in every department, the Polytechnic was out to set the pace in all aspects of academic training.
“With the caliber of academic personnel we parade here, we are bound to deliver on our mandate so that our graduates can compete favourably with their counterparts anywhere in the world”, Elder Etukudoh said.
Meanwhile, the school matriculation is billed for Friday, May 22, 2015 at the Polytechnic’s Sports Ground.
